Every expert is telling you that you need to be connected with your kids and spouse, but nobody tells you HOW to connect with them. And the only time you hear people share about quality experiences with their family they are telling you about a 3 day vacation out of cell service. So once a year if you're lucky, you will connect with your kids and spouse on vacation. Really...
You need quality time with your kids so that they will follow your guidance and choose to have a life long relationship with you. We don't say goodbye at 18 over here. And date nights with your spouse need to be a regular occurrence. Your kids will grow up and move out, your spouse is till death.
Simply put, relationships need to be nurtured if you want them to last and that includes our kids and spouse. ✨💜
Ready to nurture those relationship in practical and budget friendly ways?
That's exactly what The Family Playbook will teach you to do.
Because knowing that you need to prioritize quality time with your family and actually finding realistic ways to make it happen often are two different things.
The Start
We started movie night when my son was 2 and we needed a low effort way to stay connected. Pizza and a movie on the couch is bare minimum effort and as a toddler mom that was all I had in me. Now my kids turn down invites with friends because it is movie night and they can't miss it. We also invite friends to join us because they KNOW Friday is movie night at the Lawson's.
At-home dates started because we could afford the date or the babysitter but not both and we didn't live near family. Now they are some of our most creative dates and as two homebodies we LOVE a good at-home date in our cozies, laughing together.
Game night started when my kids were both in school full time and I realized how little time we had together each day. One night a week with no screens or sports so that we can intentionally spend our time together is what we needed. My kids make sure they are available on Wednesday because they love this time just as much as we do.
Dinner at the table started because our table manners were needing practice. Table dinners were a struggle and the kids fought it every time. Now we light candles to make it feel special, we play name the movie quote, and they tell us all about their day.
Realistic meals started when I realized that we were either eating chicken nuggets or a Half Baked Harvest's most complicated dishes. I had no in between. I needed to go back to the dinners of my childhood that were balanced and practical, but maybe not Pinterest worthy.
We're a normal family with average budgets. AND we fully believe that we don't need the fancy lifestyle or big budgets to stay connected as a family and experience happiness.
And now I can share with you exactly how my family does it.
