The Kitchen Confidence Session
A Personalised 1:1 Cooking Experience
NZ$250 | 3 Hours | In Your Own Kitchen
Your kitchen. Your questions. Your confidence.
What if learning to cook wasn’t about following another recipe, but about understanding food, finding your own rhythm and feeling genuinely confident in your kitchen?
Maybe you want to get better at meal prepping. Maybe you’ve always wanted to master homemade bread, understand flavours, cook more nourishing meals or simply stop feeling overwhelmed when it comes to feeding yourself or your family.
Or perhaps you don’t quite know what you need. You just know you’d love to feel a little more capable in the kitchen.
That’s where we begin.
With over 27 years of professional cheffing experience across fine dining, cafés, pastry and organic kitchens, alongside training in holistic nutrition and years of facilitating community cooking programmes, I bring a practical, creative and deeply personalised approach to teaching.
My classes are organic, conversational and hands-on. There’s no rigid curriculum, no one-size-fits-all approach and absolutely no expectation that you already know what you’re doing.
We start with you.
What do you want to learn? What’s not working? Where would a little knowledge, guidance or confidence make everyday cooking easier?
We talk, we collaborate, and together we create a cooking experience designed around exactly that.
Real skills. Real food. Your kind of cooking.
What Could We Explore?

And if there’s something else you’d love to learn, let’s talk about it.
This is your session. We build it around you.
What’s Included
3-hour personalised, hands-on cooking lesson in your own kitchen.
A pre-session conversation to explore your goals, interests and challenges.
A customised session plan developed collaboratively.
A personalised shopping list provided ahead of time (as you’ll be providing the food & kitchen space).
Practical demonstrations, guidance and hands-on learning.
Cooking techniques, tips and professional kitchen knowledge tailored to you.
Recipes or reference notes where relevant.
The opportunity to ask questions, experiment and learn at your own pace.
This is about building skills you can take into your everyday life, not simply following a recipe for three hours.
How It Works
1. Let’s Connect
Before we meet, we’ll have a conversation about what you’d like to learn.
You might have a very specific goal, or you might need a little help figuring out where to begin.
We’ll talk about your relationship with cooking, what feels easy, what feels challenging and what you’d love to feel more confident doing.
There’s no right or wrong starting point.
2. Let’s Create Your Session
Together, we’ll decide what to focus on.
I’ll put together a flexible session plan and personalised shopping list based on what we’ve discussed.
You’ll purchase the ingredients and have them ready in your kitchen before our session.
3. Let’s Get Cooking | 3 Hours
I’ll come into your kitchen and we’ll cook together.
I’ll demonstrate, explain, guide and support you as we explore the techniques and skills you’ve chosen.
We’ll work at your pace, with plenty of space for questions, curiosity and those little moments of discovery that make cooking click.
While we’ll have a plan, there’s always room to follow what naturally comes up.
That’s often where the best learning happens.
4. Take Your Skills Into Everyday Life
My hope is that you finish our session with more than something delicious to eat.
You’ll leave with practical knowledge, a better understanding of food and skills you can keep building on long after I’ve gone.
A Different Kind of Cooking Lesson
I don’t believe confidence comes from being told exactly what to do.
It comes from understanding why things work, having the freedom to experiment and feeling supported enough to give things a go.
My teaching style is relaxed, intuitive, practical and collaborative.
I’ll meet you where you’re at, whether you’ve never felt comfortable in a kitchen or you’ve been cooking for years and simply want to learn something new.
There are no silly questions, no pressure to get everything perfect and no need to perform.
Just two people in a kitchen, sharing knowledge, making food and building confidence.
A Few Things to Know
A Truly Personalised Experience
This is a one-on-one cooking session designed around one person’s learning goals.
If you’d like to learn alongside a partner, friend or family member, please get in touch to discuss a private group session and pricing (because this is a 1:1 offering only).
Your Kitchen & Ingredients
Sessions take place in your own kitchen using your equipment and ingredients.
I’ll provide a personalised shopping list ahead of time, and a brief virtual kitchen walkthrough may be arranged to ensure your space is suitable for our planned activities.
Three Hours Together
Your session includes three hours of dedicated, hands-on learning.
We’ll choose a realistic number of recipes and techniques based on your goals and the time available.
More advanced topics or larger learning goals may be better explored across multiple sessions.
Flexible Learning
Although we’ll agree on a plan beforehand, my teaching approach is intentionally flexible.
If something comes up during our session that would be more useful to explore, we can adapt as we go.
The focus is always on what will support your learning most.
