Healing Gay Sex and Love: A Group Experience is a work of psychological narrative fiction, written from inside the lived reality of a gay men’s therapy group struggling with the compromises imposed by working in the Hollywood film and TV business.
In five acts, we follow Andy (Asian, 34), John (Black, 66), Bobby (Southern diva, 53), and Harry (Chicano, 26) as the group asks Dr. Glitter to help them finally talk about sex. What unfolds is not advice or self-help, but drama and jeopardy: confession, humor, erotic honesty, conflict, mythic play, rupture, and repair. Drawing on group therapy, depth psychology, Plato’s Symposium, and contemporary queer culture, the men use Dr. Glitter’s temporary return to New York for personal reasons as an opening to keep the work alive beyond the therapy room—performing and sharing what they are learning as they begin to fashion a new G+Q MAP for shifting gay life from assimilation toward a more relational, ethical, and reparative future.

If you’re looking for a book that is serious without being dry, therapeutic without being preachy, playful without losing depth—and that responds directly to the authoritarian attack on freedom, queers, and people of color—this is an invitation into a room where healing becomes a shared, living practice.
