Kindergarten Readiness Bootcamp- Week 4 & 5

Welcome to the Early Intellect® Kindergarten Bootcamp Series! During these 6 weeks, we're here to support you in embedding literacy and social-emotional learning (SEL) activities into your summer routine, ensuring your child is kindergarten-ready. Each week, we'll discuss skill practice and activities designed to fit seamlessly into your family's schedule. Remember, these activities are simply suggestions—feel free to adjust and choose what works best for your child and family. Let's make this summer a season of growth and learning together!

During the past 3 weeks, we focused on name recognition activities. We learned 6 letter sounds ( s,a,t,p,i,n, b, e, g). We focused on practicing independent work time, and practicing independence skills like opening snacks and other lunch items. You should continue to review all of these skills informally throughout the rest of the summer.

In Week 4 of our Early Intellect® Kindergarten Bootcamp, we're now focusing on fine motor skills (Fine motor skills are the ability to make movements using the small muscles in our

hands. We use our fine motor skills daily , to eat , get dressed , write , open water bottles, pick up small items , etc.  We are going to be intentional about creating opportunities for fine motor practice, and correct pencil grip. Our phonological awareness focus is now rhyming words. We are going to focus on being able to hear and identify rhyming words.  We'll introduce three additional letter sounds:M, R, O.  For our social skills, we will continue to work on independence in the restroom. You should be intentional about helping your child move towards independence in their bathroom needs. In the fall their teacher will not be able to accompany them into the restroom, they should be able to handle all parts of their needs including unbuckling pants, wiping , hand washing etc. This is a skill that is often overlooked but is so important. Happy learning!
