Coaching, consulting, teaching, mixing, showing: there are many things I can help with.
A free call means we can find out what we can do together and if we're a good match, without commitments.
Here are a few examples of results from discovery calls I've had in the past:
Weekly coaching: With Brandon A, we made a plan during the discovery call. He had been mixing for a while but without any formal education and only through experimentation and a few YouTube videos to guide him. So once a week, we open a session on his computer and I guide him through mixing, stopping at explaining tools and techniques as we craft the mix HE wants. The goal is to get him to confidently mix a song for a client within 6 months.
Consultation: With Dan T, he books a session when he has specific doubts about mixes he's doing for clients, to bring them up a notch (as a result, he can charge more because he delivers higher quality).
Co-mixing: With Alicia L, we have been mixing her productions together, but because we're working on her computer remotely, she's doing some of the detailed and more "artistic" work (like volume automations, transitions, creative effects, experimentations, etc) by herself in between sessions. She books less regularly than other artists or engineers, but she usually books 3 or 4 hours at a time so that we can get the bulk done on 2-3 songs.
Session observation: with Elaih J and Faith S, I have demonstrated, with my plugins, on my computer, my process of mixing drums for two different genres - on tracks provided by them, one with a good recording and one with a terrible recording.
These are just examples of what can be done. Through the discovery call I will ask you:
Who you are and what your interests are
What you would like to do and/or learn
What kind of timeframe you'd like to get your results in
And, on the same call I will come up with a recommended "plan" that suits you personally, which we can then refine together.
