Discreet Strategy for High-Conflict Disputes When It’s Do or Die

Expert Witness: Religious Coercive Control & Gett

Expert Witness: Religious Coercive Control & Gett

$2,500

I am a professional expert witness specialising in religious coercive control, with a focused area of practice in the weaponisation of the Get within Orthodox Jewish divorce.

I provide expert evidence — written reports and oral testimony — to courts, tribunals, and legal teams who need a qualified subject-matter expert to explain how religious divorce mechanisms function, how they are exploited as instruments of post-separation abuse, and how a secular court can interpret what is happening through the correct legal and psychological framework.

This is my professional area of practice. Engagement is formal, paid, and governed by the standards expected of expert witnesses.

Qualifications and Background:

• Degree in Psychology — informing my evidence on coercive control, trauma response, and the psychological architecture of religious abuse

• Degree in Medieval Literature — informing my evidence on the historical and textual frameworks through which feminine autonomy has been ritualised, restricted, and codified within religious legal systems

• Sustained professional advocacy for agunot and victims of religious coercive control, working alongside legal teams, religious courts, domestic abuse services, and policy bodies across multiple jurisdictions

• Established public profile within the get-refusal and religious coercive control space, including media, policy, and inter-organisational work

Areas of Expert Evidence:

• Get refusal as post-separation coercive control and economic abuse under the Serious Crime Act 2015 and equivalent statutes

• The structure, authority, and procedural limits of the beis din

• The use of the Get as a bargaining chip in financial remedy and child arrangement proceedings

• Psychological impact of agunah status — isolation, religious shunning, loss of community, restriction of bodily autonomy and freedom of movement

• Conditional Gets, delayed Gets, and the weaponisation of beis din summons and procedure

• The cultural and historical frameworks that make religious coercive control legible to insiders and invisible to secular institutions

Scope of Engagement:

I accept formal instructions from solicitors, barristers, advocates, and litigants in person. All work is undertaken on a paid professional basis at standard expert witness rates. CV, prior testimony record, and sample reports are made available on instruction.

I do not provide expert opinion informally or outside of formal instruction. Requests for expert evidence — including those arising via subpoena or witness summons — are managed through my professional practice and billed accordingly.
