/Day
For social workers, counselors and mental health professionals who want to move beyond awareness and integrate anti-oppressive, culturally responsive and liberation-informed care into their everyday clinical work. Together we will question inherited practices, experiment with more liberatory approaches, and explore practical ways to strengthen client agency without overlooking the realities of systemic harm.
Here's the breakdown:
Week 1: Recognizing the Systems in the Room
Through consiousness-raising and critical reflection, you will begin to understand how power, oppression, culture and institutional expectations shape client experiences.
Week 2: Examining the Practitioner Within the Practice
We will explore bias, positionality, professional authority, respectibility politics and inherited clinical norms that shape our practice.
Week 3: Bringing Liberation Into the Clinical Encounter
We will apply culturally responsive, collaborative, and liberation informed tools to active clinical work.
Week 4: Practicing Beyond Compliance
We will apply what you are learning to your current work and create an ethical and sustainable plan for practicing with greater courageous reflection, historical context, accountability and client agency.
Your Contribution Matters
This is not a passive webinar or a pursuit of becoming a perfect practitioner. It is about raising our critical consciouness to examine how power, culture, identity, professional conditioning and oppressive systems enter the clinical space. Let me be clear, this cohort is grounded in shared power and collective wisdom. True, I will guide and hold the learning space as facilitator, but I do not enter it believing that I have all the answers. Every participants' knowledge, lived experience, questions and contributions will be honored and valued. In the same way that liberatory practice recognizes clients and service users as equal partners in healing and systemic change; we will learn with and from one another.
