The Compass Method™: A Smarter Way to Break Into Big Tech Program Management

Stop searching for jobs before you know what story you’re taking to market.

The Compass Method™ is a free 10-page career strategy guide designed to help experienced professionals translate what they’ve already done into a credible Program Management narrative — then focus their search on the companies, roles, and access routes most likely to create real traction.

Translate. Curate. Cast. Commit.

Four stages. One intentional career move.

Your experience may be stronger than your positioning.

Most job seekers start in the wrong place.

They search job titles.
Apply to whatever looks close enough.
Rewrite their resume again.
Start over for the next company.

But a high-volume search cannot fix unclear positioning.

The Compass Method™ gives you a more intentional way to approach a Big Tech Program Management search.

Before asking, “What jobs are open?” you’ll learn to answer:

What is the PgM story in my background — and which companies are the best market for that story?

Inside this free guide, I walk you through the four stages of the Compass Method:

  • TRANSLATE — Know your value. Mine your experience, identify transferable PgM competencies, translate industry-specific language, build your resume narrative, and create your STARRS story bank.

  • CURATE — Choose where to focus. Score potential employers based on strategic fit, growth potential, role alignment, culture and values, logistics, and accessibility so you can build a focused target-company list.

  • CAST — Create access. Stop depending on cold applications alone. Build multiple credible routes into your target companies through network connections, recruiters, referrals, community engagement, and direct outreach.

  • COMMIT — Follow traction. When a company starts giving you real signals, deepen your preparation, clarify your non-negotiables, evaluate the full opportunity, navigate the process professionally, and make the decision with confidence.

You’ll also get practical guidance for adapting the framework when your timeline is compressed — including what to prioritize when you have 2–3 weeks, one week, or less than one week to prepare, plus how to think about competing offer timelines and financial runway.

This Guide Is For You If…

You’re an experienced professional who knows you’ve done meaningful work — but your background doesn’t come packaged in obvious Big Tech language.

You may be coming from project management, operations, government, consulting, education, healthcare, HR, marketing, nonprofit work, or another nontraditional path.

You do not need another generic list of jobs to apply for.

You need a clearer way to answer:

What value do I bring?
Where does that value fit?
How do I create access?
And when the market responds, how do I convert that traction into an opportunity?

That’s what the Compass Method is designed to help you do.

What You’ll Walk Away With

By the end of the guide, you’ll have a framework for building:

A clearer PgM positioning narrative.
A translated resume and interview evidence base.
A focused target-company strategy.
Multiple access routes into the companies you actually want.
A more intentional approach to interview preparation, compensation, and decision-making.

This isn’t about applying to more jobs.

It’s about creating clear positioning, concentrated effort, repeated visibility, and better conversion.
