When I Finally Chose Me is a deeply personal memoir about love, loss, control, motherhood, survival, and what it took to finally choose myself after a relationship that began when I was just fifteen.

For years, I built a life around marriage, raising my children, working, keeping the peace, and doing whatever needed to be done. From the outside, life could look completely normal. Behind closed doors, it was much more complicated.

This is my story of slowly losing pieces of myself, recognizing patterns I once couldn’t see, and eventually finding the courage to walk away after nearly 29 years of marriage.

I’ll never forget how I felt when I signed those divorce papers.

I felt free.

And one of the first things I did was reclaim my maiden name.

This isn’t only a story about what I survived. It’s about what happened when I stopped living according to someone else’s reactions and started discovering who I was again.
