Rewire & Rise

A Neuroscience-Informed Workbook for Teacher Stress & Burnout

The school day ends. Your brain doesn't always get the memo.

You're home, but you're replaying the conversation from fourth period.

You're thinking about the student you're worried about.

You check your email without even thinking about it.

You're mentally rewriting tomorrow's lesson while you're supposed to be watching TV.

Or you're sitting down to relax and feeling guilty because there is always something else you could be doing.

When you work in a demanding job long enough, some of these responses can start to become automatic.

Rewire & Rise was created to help you notice those patterns and start working on the ones that are within your influence.

This is a practical, neuroscience-informed workbook built specifically for teachers. You'll learn about neuroplasticity, look at some of the patterns you've developed around teaching stress, and work through exercises that help you practise different responses over time.

This workbook will help you:

✓ Notice where teaching is taking up time and mental space outside of school

✓ Set boundaries that actually make sense for your life and workload

✓ Look at what genuinely needs your attention and what can wait, be simplified, reused or delegated

✓ Recognize what stress looks like in your body before you automatically react

✓ Identify situations and thought patterns that repeatedly trigger stress

✓ Practise realistic responses you can use when those patterns show up again

✓ Separate what is within your influence from what was never entirely yours to solve

✓ Think about the support you actually need and who you can turn to

✓ Understand how neuroplasticity relates to repeated experiences, familiar responses and deliberate practice

Inside Rewire & Rise

You'll get a 28-page digital workbook with practical reflection pages, exercises and tools, including:

My Boundary Map
Figure out where work is spilling into the rest of your life and what boundaries you want to practise keeping.

Simplifying Your Workload
Sort through what actually needs your attention, what can wait and what you're giving more time than it needs.

The Balanced Teacher Planner
A daily workload planner for the days when everything feels important.

Making Time for Life Outside of Teaching
Look at where school has started taking up time or mental space you'd rather give to something else.

Regulation During the School Day
Identify your own signs of increasing stress and choose realistic strategies you can use during an actual school day.

Notice the Pattern
Break down a stressful moment into what happened, what you noticed in your body, how you responded and what you want to practise next time.

The Overwhelm Reset
A simple five-step tool for creating some space between a stressful moment and what you do next.

My Support System Snapshot
Identify who you can turn to depending on the kind of support you actually need.

What Is Actually Mine to Carry?
Separate what is within your influence from the things you care about but cannot control or solve.

Understanding Neuroplasticity
Learn how repeated experiences can contribute to familiar responses and why deliberate practice matters when you're trying to change a pattern.

Reflect & Rewire
Notice recurring thoughts, examine how they affect what you do next and practise responses that are more accurate, useful and realistic.

These aren't generic journal prompts. The workbook brings the reflection back to situations teachers actually experience, from difficult classes and student concerns to work email, planning, workload and carrying school home mentally.

A note about burnout

Teacher burnout is bigger than an individual teacher.

Workload, staffing, resources, working conditions, organizational support and systemic expectations matter. This workbook isn't going to tell you that a breathing exercise or better boundary can fix those things.

What it can help you do is recognize the parts of your own stress patterns that you have some influence over and give you practical ways to work with them.

Created by a teacher who gets it

I've taught since 2014, including in classrooms where students were dealing with significant trauma and needs that extended far beyond anything I could address in a lesson plan.

There were periods when I came home completely drained, and like a lot of teachers, I got very good at pushing through it.

My interest in what happens when teaching stress follows us home eventually led me deeper into neuroscience and neuroplasticity. Rewire & Rise grew from that intersection between my experience in the classroom and my interest in understanding why some responses become so automatic over time.

Rewire & Rise is for you if...

You find yourself replaying school situations long after you've left.

You have trouble deciding when your workday is actually finished.

You automatically say yes when you're already stretched thin.

Certain classes, behaviours or situations seem to trigger an immediate stress response.

You carry student situations home because you care deeply about your students.

You know something about the way you're approaching work needs to change, but generic advice to “practise self-care” isn't particularly helpful.

You want to understand why some of these patterns become so familiar and what you can realistically practise instead.

Start with one pattern.

You don't have to overhaul your life or become a perfectly regulated teacher.

Open the workbook. Notice what feels familiar. Choose one pattern that's affecting you and start there.
