I have a lot of respect for you as an artist and just as a person, so I’m more than happy to support you. I love that you take so much pride in your work and I love being able to come to you and know that whatever vision I had will be brought to life in the best way. I can see how much pride you take in your work by your entire process, you won’t finalize the stencil until it is right where you feel it is best, in fact u don’t think you have ever kept the stencil on the first place you have put it for me. I know that you very much care about the story and meaning of the tattoos for the client. You don’t just post tattoos on social media, you always have some sort of story, you let the designs inspire you and I feel that you genuinely put love into every single piece. I have seen designs you have made for me posted several times over the past few years and although the sharing on social media is never an expectation, I feel like it really highlights how much you care about making the best tattoo possible and how proud you are of your work. It brings me comfort knowing how much focus you have on sizing, placement/body flow. I love many of the same themes that you focus on (whimsical, animals, etc) so I find that most of your flash sheets are right up my alley and inspire me. All of that being said, I can completely understand and see that is why this book is such an important project for you.
I feel very comfortable with after-care and pre-appointment routines at this point in my tattoo journey. However, I really like that you included “fool-proof” what to do/not to dos. I think that it helps make it less daunting for others maybe considering their first tattoo, someone new to tattoos, or just a general refresher for people. I loved the designs, although I very much love to see your visions with color (ex: when you release flash) I do love that they are not in color for the purpose of planning tattoos/colors.
I am using this book as inspiration to continue with my tattoos. I believe you may have posted about it before, but I am also finding that I wish I would’ve put more thought into placement for some of my very first tattoos. I want to be more intentional with placement, planning, flow, etc. I want my tattoos to flow nicely. Also, although it is not the intended purpose, my daughter would absolutely love coloring them and enjoy these designs very much.
I wouldn’t say this book was a surprise, as I know you are thorough and have incredible attention to detail. I just genuinely enjoyed pages 5-13. Again, I think it’s wonderful for anyone new to tattoos, or just someone trying to plan other tattoos that maybe need additional support with placement/have concerns about pain level, etc. I know that you love fashion and I would in no way consider myself a fashion expert, so I enjoyed that you included styling tips around tattoos as well. I don’t see other artists doing that and it is unique.
