Darryl Reid is an accomplished coach, mentor, and leader with more than 20 years of experience developing athletes and guiding families through the high-performance journey. He has dedicated his career to building pathways for young people to succeed both on and off the field.
At the heart of Darryl’s story is his family—his wife Natalie and their two daughters, Kylie and Alyssa. Family has always been his foundation and greatest source of purpose, shaping both the way he lives and the way he coaches.
In 2022, Darryl’s world was turned upside down when Kylie, his oldest daughter, was diagnosed with a brain tumor. His focus shifted almost entirely to her health, and during that time he found it difficult to balance family, work, and life. As his energy went into supporting others, his own health began to spiral—already struggling with his own unhealthy life style choices, his weight climbed to 310 pounds. By October 2024, he knew he had to make changes in all aspects of life, leading to tough decisions professionally and a renewed focus on his personal health so that he could be a better father, husband, coach, and friend. What followed was a transformational 90-pound weight loss journey that gave him a new perspective on life, clarity in his purpose, and a deeper understanding of his “why.”
Today, Kylie is in her third year at Wilfrid Laurier University studying Kinesiology, the perfect example of persistence and someone Darryl models his own life after. Her strength continues to inspire his work with athletes and families. In 2024, Darryl participated in the Ride to Conquer Cancer for the first time and has committed to making it a yearly tradition, raising awareness and showing his commitment to turning personal struggle into community impact.
Now, Darryl is a Certified Mastery Mental Performance Coach, a Certified Baseball Coach, and is completing his Precision Nutrition certification. He is the co-founder and owner of PreGame Pathway, a consulting platform that equips student-athletes and families with clarity, mentorship, and practical tools for success.
Behind his current mission is a lifetime of experience as both an athlete and coach. Darryl grew up playing competitive baseball, hockey, and volleyball, experiences that shaped his understanding of discipline, teamwork, and resilience. He has gone on to coach at the highest levels of Canadian amateur baseball with the Toronto Mets organization, where he has guided teams through championship seasons and helped countless athletes move on to college and professional opportunities. Internationally, he served as a coach with the Great Britain National Baseball Team, representing at the 2012 World Baseball Classic Qualifier in Germany, and from 2020–2023 he was Head Coach of Durham College Baseball. Beyond baseball, Darryl spent nearly a decade coaching volleyball, including high school and with the Durham Attack Volleyball Club.
Blending professional achievement with personal resilience, Darryl now shares his story and expertise to help others navigate their own journeys. His message is simple: sport is more than competition—it’s a pathway to growth, resilience, and lifelong success. For athletes, families, and organizations seeking clarity, mentorship, or a trusted guide, Darryl is ready to walk alongside you.
