Meet Your Coach

I’m Dr. Melissa James, an award-winning entrepreneur, speaker, author, and real estate investor on a mission to help corporate professionals become financially independent. Over the past 15 years, I’ve built and scaled businesses, created high-performing diverse teams for leading tech companies, and invested in real estate to generate passive income.

I’m deeply passionate about supporting diverse talent and have dedicated much of my career to advocating for underrepresented professionals in industries that are often exclusive. I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the world’s most innovative companies, including Google, Akamai Technologies, Uber, Spotify, HubSpot, Wayfair, and many more, where I helped build diverse teams that drive business growth and innovation. My work has centered on connecting top talent from underrepresented groups to top companies, and I’m committed to fostering inclusive environments that empower everyone to succeed.

With a proven track record of helping individuals move from feeling stuck to soaring, I’m excited to help you gain the clarity and confidence you need to make empowered decisions for your career and future. Through my work, I’ve seen firsthand the power of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, mindfulness, and strategic growth to help people regain their confidence.

A Few Highlights of My Journey:

  • Graduated college in 2010. The job market was trash. Decided to delay my decision to go to law school.

  • AmeriCorp: I volunteered as an Americorps, providing free legal support to low-income families. Pivoted.

  • Office Manager at Start Up from MIT and Harvard: Started as a temp gig that turned into a crash course into entrepreneurship and building companies from scratch that changed my life for the better.

  • Recruiter at Google: One day while working late, I received a phone call to join Google's recruiting team.

  • Founder & CEO of The Tech Connection: Built a recruiting platform from scratch. Connecting diverse talent to Fortune 500 tech companies such as Google, Akamai, HubSpot, Wayfair, Airbnb, Uber, and Spotify.

  • Co-Founder of Hack.Diversity: Launched an internship-to-hire program, with a Harvard Business School Professor that has helped hundreds of underrepresented talent land jobs at leading tech companies, empowering diverse professionals to excel in the tech space.

  • Multi-Family Real Estate Investor: Created a $2M real estate portfolio by providing affordable housing to low income families. Generating over $180K in income annually.

  • Chief Growth Officer: Doubled revenue from $3M to $6.5M in two years using AI and strategic growth tactics.

  • Author: ā€œWhen Are You Going to Get a Real Career: A Guide to Designing a Career You Would Be Proud Of!ā€ Available on Amazon!

  • Honorary Doctorate Recipient: Recognized for outstanding contributions in leadership, diversity, and entrepreneurship.

  • Appointed by the Governor of Massachusetts: To advise on investing in academic spinouts and fostering innovation in the state.

I value transparency and I share my authentic journey in hopes of inspiring you to see what is possible.

As a recruiter, I've spent years helping professionals navigate their career transitions, and I know how difficult it can be. That’s why I offer group coaching at an affordable price—to ensure that everyone has access to the support they need without breaking the bank.

Many people don’t know this, but when I worked as an office manager, my manager was committed to helping me become the best version of myself. The company invested in me and provided me with an executive coach at just 21 years old, while I was still starting my career. I was just an ordinary girl, but within 12 months, I received a call from Google, which had an incredible impact on my career trajectory.

That experience taught me the power of executive coaching and how it can transform the direction of your career. I believe everyone should have access to the same kind of expert led support and guidance that I received, which is why I’m offering this group coaching at such an affordable price.

I typically charge $350 per hour for one-on-one coaching. If you had just one session a month for a year, it would cost you $4,200.

But with group coaching, you get 4 hours of coaching per month (a value of $1400) for just $588 per year or $49 per month.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • $1,400 worth of coaching each month

  • You’re getting all of this for just $588 per year ($49/month).

That’s over 97% off the regular price! You get consistent access to me and the support you need for a fraction of the cost.

By offering group coaching for just $588 per year ($49 per month), I’m able to give you consistent, ongoing support while keeping the cost manageable. You’ll get access to group coaching, a supportive community, and a transformative experience for a fraction of the usual price. I believe in making executive coaching accessible so you can move through transitions faster and bounce back!

I am interested in group coaching, but I still have questions. To learn more about group coaching click here.

We got you!
