Ya cerraste el año. Ahora, abre tu camino.
You closed the year. Now, open your path.
The new year doesn’t have to begin with pressure, a long to-do list, or resolutions that fade by February. At Tu Año Nuevo: Abriendo Caminos, we begin with intention and with a vision that feels like yours.
In this virtual retreat, you’ll create a vision board for the year ahead, reopen the Carta a Mí Misma you wrote in December, and set intentions rooted in rest, joy, and your own wellbeing, not in over-giving.
What we’ll do together
Opening circle: reconnect and set the tone for the year.
Carta a Mí Misma: open your December letter and reflect on how far you’ve come.
Vision board: create a visual map of the year you want, with intention and space for you.
Closing circle: share one intention and step into the year with community.
Come as you are
Gather magazines, printed images, scissors, glue, markers, or digital tools. Have your December letter nearby.

Hola Mujer Poderosa,
I am a proud daughter of immigrants from the beautiful state of Puebla, Mexico. I grew up in South Central Los Angeles and during my childhood I witnessed how much work and effort my parents, family, and community put in to see us shine. For over 10 years, I have worked in community mental health services.
And watched something heartbreaking.
First-gen professionals — especially Latinas — giving everything.
Working late. Carrying teams. Carrying families.
Burning out quietly.
Hospital visits. Anxiety. Chronic stress. Resentment.
But still showing up.
Why?
Because we inherited work ethics rooted in sacrifice.
Because we were taught that rest equals laziness.
Because we confuse exhaustion with worthiness.
And let’s be honest — systems benefit from our overextension!
I became disillusioned watching passionate first-gen professionals be used up.
So I stopped participating in it.
I reframed the patterns that kept me stuck in chronic burnout.
I reconnected with my deeper values — not productivity or hustle culture, but my values.
I honored my parents’ sacrifices without recreating their suffering.
And everything shifted.
Now I’m on a mission.
Not to talk about burnout — but to end guilt-driven overwork in our community.
Through nature-based gatherings and intentional retreats, I create spaces where first-gen professionals learn to:
• Rest without apology
• Regulate their nervous systems
• Redefine ambition
• Build inner confidence
• Choose sustainability over self-sacrifice

FAQ
A virtual retreat is a guided opportunity to step away from your everyday responsibilities and intentionally create space for yourself—from the comfort of home. You’ll be guided through reflection, mindful practices, movement, and connection designed to help you pause, reset, and reconnect with yourself.
Not at all. All practices are designed to be accessible to different experience levels. You’ll be encouraged to listen to your body, modify movements, and participate in the ways that feel supportive for you.
Expect a combination of mindful movement, reflection, journaling, mindset work, guided practices, and intentional pauses. This is not about packing your day with more activities—it’s about creating meaningful space to slow down and reconnect with yourself.
You don't need fancy equipment. We recommend having a yoga mat or comfortable surface, water, and enough space to move comfortably. Wear clothing that allows you to move freely.
Most importantly, listen to your body. You are welcome to modify, pause, or skip any movement that doesn't feel right for you. If you have an injury, medical condition, or concerns about participating in physical activity, consult with your healthcare provider beforehand.
We encourage you to protect the time as much as possible because the retreat is designed as an intentional experience. If you know you’ll need to step away, that's okay—life happens. Give yourself permission to participate in the portions that you can and return to the practices when possible.
No. Serenidad Wellness retreats are educational and wellness experiences, not therapy or a substitute for mental health treatment. The retreat provides culturally grounded tools for reflection, mindfulness, rest, and personal wellbeing in a supportive community setting.
