🏜️ ESSAOURIA INTERMEDIATE HORSEBACK RIDING PROGRAMME 🐎🇲🇦

29th March - 2nd April 2027
4 Nights • 5 Days

This programme is designed for riders who already have a solid foundation in the saddle and are ready to develop the basics and now want to EITHER learn to trot, canter and gallop in a variety of natural environments or already know how to. The group will be split into 'Sub-intermediates / Intermediates'

Across the three riding days, we will gradually build from controlled trotting and cantering towards longer stretches of faster riding and, where the horse, rider and terrain are suitable, introducing galloping along open trails.

DAY 01 — ARRIVALS đŸŤśđŸź

Your Moroccan adventure begins with a relaxed arrival into Essaouria. Once you’ve checked into your luxury accommodation, you will have the rest of the day to settle in, unwind and explore the town.

Take some time to meet the sisters joining the programme, explore the local surroundings and enjoy your first taste of Morocco before the riding begins.

There’s no riding today. It’s simply a chance to arrive, relax and prepare yourself for the days ahead.

DAY 02 — CONNECTION & FIRST TRAIL đŸŽ

Before we head out onto the trails, we will spend a short time getting to know our horses properly before we ride them.

We will begin our first trail ride of approximately 3.5–4 hours, allowing us to get used to our horses and see if you are comfortable riding them.

We will ride through the Banana Valley, heading towards the Atlantic Ocean and beach before continuing into the small desert. Along the route, we will begin working on controlled trot and canter, focusing on balance, rhythm, transitions and maintaining control while riding through changing terrain.

As we become comfortable with the horses and the trails, we will introduce longer sections of canter where appropriate.

We will eventually reach a scenic viewpoint overlooking the Atlantic before continuing towards the Fishermen’s Cave, where we will stop for tea and coffee and take in the incredible coastal views.

Then, as the sun begins to drop, we will make our way back towards the ranch.

The first day is about getting comfortable with your horse, finding your rhythm and preparing for the faster riding to come.

DAY 03 — VALLEY & MOUNTAIN OF ARGAN đŸŒżđŸŽ

Today we head deeper into the Valleys and Mountains of Argan for approximately 4.5–5 hours of riding.

With the connection established from Day 2, we can begin to open things up.

The trails will give us opportunities to work through trot and canter transitions, riding across different surfaces and terrain while developing your confidence and control.

As we reach suitable open sections of trail, we will begin introducing longer canters and controlled faster riding. For riders who are ready, and where the horses and terrain allow, we can begin working towards our first galloping sections.

The focus isn’t simply on speed. It’s about learning how to ride with your horse through open terrain, understanding when to increase and decrease your pace, and maintaining control throughout.

After our lunch break, we continue through the valleys and mountain landscapes before making our way back towards the ranch.

DAY 04 — BREEZE OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN đŸŒŠđŸŽ

Our final riding day brings everything together.

We will ride towards the Atlantic coastline, with approximately 4.5–5 hours in the saddle.

By now, you will have had time to understand your horse, establish your rhythm and build confidence riding at different paces.

Today gives us the opportunity to put that progression into practice.

We will begin with a comfortable warm-up through the coastal trails, working through trot and canter before gradually moving into longer stretches of faster riding.

Where the trail, horses and riders are suitable, we will have the opportunity to gallop through open sections of the coastline and surrounding trails, experiencing the incredible feeling of riding at speed with the Atlantic Ocean around us.

There will also be time to slow everything down, take in the scenery and enjoy lunch before continuing our final trail.

As the day comes to an end, we will make our way back towards the ranch, hopefully finishing the programme with a completely different level of confidence in the saddle.

DAY 05 — UNTIL NEXT TIME đŸ¤

After breakfast, enjoy your final morning before checking out of the hotel and beginning your journey home.

Unless you decide to extend your Moroccan adventure a little longer.

3 riding days • Approximately 15 hours in the saddle with some horsemanship throughout.

Trot → Canter → Longer Canters → Controlled Galloping

This programme is about progressing naturally with your horse and developing your confidence across different terrains, from the Banana Valley and Argan mountains to desert trails and the Atlantic coastline.

By the final day, the aim is to give you the opportunity to experience faster, more confident riding through open Moroccan trails, while always working within the ability of the individual rider, horse and terrain.
