My 10% Iridium Platinum Alloy Recipe
This is the proprietary platinum alloy blend I use in my own hand fabricated jewelry.
I developed this blend because commercially prepared alloys weren’t giving me what I needed for the type of hand fabrication I do at my bench.
In this guide, I’m sharing my 10% iridium platinum recipe, how I calculate it for different batch sizes, and how the iridium percentage can be adjusted depending on the hardness you want from the finished alloy.
Inside, you’ll get:
• My 10% iridium platinum alloy recipe
• The percentages and forms of the metals I use
• Batch measurements for 10g, 25g, 50g, and 100g
• How I weigh and maintain the proper alloy balance
• How to adjust the iridium percentage from 5% to 20% depending on the hardness you want
• Information on preparing the alloy for ingots, sheet, and wire
• A bench notes page for recording your batches, iridium percentages, and results
This is one of the proprietary precious metal alloys I use at my own bench.
