Ready for a bigger adventure?
This Jolly Jumbo Sock is designed for makers who enjoy getting immersed in a creative challenge.
I recommend having some finger knitting experience before jumping into this one.
That said, if you're naturally crafty, love learning new techniques, and enjoy diving headfirst into ambitious projects, don't let a lack of knitting experience stop you!
I've created detailed, step-by-step video lessons that demonstrate the entire process, including the basic finger knitting techniques, so even adventurous beginners can follow along and give it a go.

The finished sock measures approximately:
68 inches long with the cuff folded down
79 inches long with the cuff unfolded
29 inches wide when laid flat
55 inches around on the inside
It's big enough to climb inside and get seriously cozy!
The Jolly Jumbo Sock is an oversized project, so it requires a generous amount of yarn and a little patience!
Yarn
Here are my recommended options and approximate quantities (pick just one of these):
Yarn Bee Eternal Bliss (Hobby Lobby): 16 skeins
Bernat Blanket Big (Michaels): 14 skeins
Bernat Blanket Extra Thick: 7 skeins
I used Yarn Bee Eternal Bliss for my original sock.
Yarn cost
When Yarn Bee Eternal Bliss is 30% off at Hobby Lobby, the total yarn cost will be approximately $89.44 for one stocking (before tax). Other yarn brands may cost more.
Yarn quantities are estimates based on my knitting tension, so your usage may vary.
Time commitment
Plan for approximately 6–10 hours of hands-on knitting, depending on your experience and pace.
You don't need to complete it all at once! The video mini course is organized into manageable lessons, so you can work through the project over several days or cozy evenings.
Skill level
Some finger knitting experience is recommended, but adventurous beginners who are comfortable learning new crafts are welcome to give it a try.
No knitting needles are required!
There's something so satisfying about making something with your own two hands, especially when that something is as big, soft, and wonderfully over-the-top as the Jolly Jumbo Sock.
Whether you're making one for yourself, surprising someone with an unforgettable handmade gift, or simply looking for your next creative adventure, I hope this project brings you as much joy as it has brought me.
Happy knitting,
Jamie
