I left college, moved to a new country, and started working in my husband's business. I was grateful, but deep down I felt like an employee in someone else's dream. I wanted something of my own.

So I went back to school, got my esthetician and permanent makeup licenses, and built a beauty business from nothing. It was growing fast. I was proud of it.

Then, going into my third year, everything changed.

My son was struggling badly at school. His teacher was treating him (and me) in ways no child or parent should experience. He was anxious, having panic attacks almost every day, and his mental health got to a place that scared me more than anything ever has.

That's when I knew. I couldn't keep running my business like everything at home was okay.

So I made one of the hardest decisions of my life. I closed my business, brought him home, and started homeschooling. Eventually all my kids were home with me.

I don't regret it for one second. Being there for my children is the best decision I've ever made.

But I'll be honest with you…

I missed having something that was mine. Something I could learn, build, and grow. And I kept asking myself: why do I have to choose between being a present mom and homeschooling my kids and having my own dreams?

And then I realized something. I was already using these skills. I handle the marketing for our wedding venue and short-term rental: the listings, the ads, the Pinterest, the content. I was learning how to reach people online and turn them into bookings. I just never saw it as something I could build for myself.
