A free 8-page guide to real government programs — Italy, Japan, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland + Ireland
You've probably scrolled past headlines about this and assumed it was clickbait.
It's not.
There are governments right now offering cash grants, free houses, and monthly stipends specifically to attract families. Some programs have been running for years. Some are newer. All of them have official government websites with application instructions.
This guide is my attempt to pull it all together in one place — clearly, honestly, without the hype.
8 pages. No fluff. Every country gets its own page with:
Real program names and amounts. Official source links. What the commitment looks like. Who qualifies. And my honest take on whether it makes sense for a family like ours. ( since we're probably similar).
Countries covered: Italy (up to €100,000)
· Japan (up to $33,000)
· Spain +
Portugal
· Switzerland + Ireland
You're not necessarily planning to pack everything up tomorrow. But the idea of living abroad — even for a season, even eventually — has been sitting in the back of your mind. You want real information, not a dream board.
This is for you.
Who this is NOT for
If you're looking for a complete relocation roadmap, immigration legal advice, or a step-by-step visa guide — this isn't that. What this is: a research starting point with verified sources so you know where to look and what questions to ask.
About Marae
I'm Marae — Cuban born, raised in the US, living in Spain with my husband and our two kids. We've traveled to 26+ countries with our kids, and we made our own leap to Spain without any of the grants I'm about to show you. I share what family travel and life abroad actually looks like — not the highlight reel version. My hope is to encourage other families to go after their dreams of seeing the world together, wether that is for a one week trip or a permanent move to a country that resonates more. If we can do this, you can do this too, and I hope these resources help.
