Crown Refs Skill Development Camp

May 1 • 9:00 AM – May 3 • 6:00 PM | Fort Wayne, IN | Turnstone Center

The Camp:

The Crown Refs Skill Development Camp is a three-day instructional teaching camp designed to elevate every aspect of your officiating craft — from mechanics and communication to mindset and professionalism. Held at the Turnstone Center (3320 N Clinton St, Fort Wayne, IN 46805), this camp brings together officials from across the country for an immersive weekend of growth, connection, and community.

Each official will work multiple games daily while receiving on-court evaluations and personalized feedback from the Crown Refs staff. In addition to live gameplay, officials will participate in classroom sessions featuring Signal School, film breakdowns, communication workshops, and coach interaction training. Campers will also hear from a diverse lineup of college and professional officials through presentations, guest talks, and a Saturday night social.

This camp is open to officials of these levels — from varsity, JUCO, and NCAA DIII/DII officials. Whether you’re a High School official or pushing toward the college and pro level, this experience will challenge and refine your skills in a supportive, growth-driven environment.

With only 64 spots available, every attendee can expect focused instruction, meaningful feedback, and the opportunity to work 4–5 games over the weekend. Crown Refs has waited years for the right moment to host its first-ever camp — and this is it. Join us as we unite the community for a transformative weekend built on character, connection, and the pursuit of excellence.

The Staff:

We’re proud to feature a dedicated group of officials and mentors who embody the Crown Refs mission of growth, connection, and service to the game:

Mike Evans, Javed Trotman, Carmela Garcia, Montrell Cade, Ernest Hamilton III, Grant Vermeer, Adreanna Broussard, Chris Velaoras, Gabe Lind and Paul Diasparra.

Each staff member brings unique experience, perspective, and passion for helping others grow both on and off the court. This is the foundation of our 2026 staff — with additional friends, clinicians, and special guests to be announced soon.

Crown Refs Camp is more than just a weekend of basketball. It’s a gathering of like-minded officials committed to growth through character, community, and connection. 🏀💪

The Tournament:

The 2026 Bill Hensley Memorial Run N’ Slam Tournament will once again bring together some of the nation’s top high school and AAU basketball talent for a weekend of intense competition. Recognized as one of the premier spring tournaments in the Midwest, the Run N’ Slam attracts elite teams, college scouts, and fans from across the country. Officials can expect to work all high-level level assignments of mostly Varsity basketball.

Lodging:

All officials are responsible for arranging their own lodging accommodations for the weekend. 🏨

We’ll provide recommendations for nearby hotels closer to the event to make your planning easier — but lodging is not included in the registration fee.

As we get closer to camp, emails will be sent out in March with additional details, schedule updates, and important information to help you prepare for the weekend. We can't wait to see you in Ft. Wayne!
