I've been where you are. I've had the questions that were dismissed. I've been told "You're too young for perimenopause". I was 42. I've been told estrogen isn't a preventative option for low bone density when I was diagnosed with osteopenia in my left hip at 52. It was FDA approved in the 1990's. I was told that a Dexa Scan isn't even recommended for women until age 65, yet I insisted on one anyway. I was offered an SSRI when I had anxiety that came out of left field at 44. The possibility of low estradiol, testosterone, or progesterone was never discussed. And, I'm a Nurse Practitioner. I had a reasonably accurate understanding of what was happening to my body, and I was still medically gaslit. It's real. It's annoying as heck. And, it makes me really angry.
I don't want that for you. I want you to walk into your next appointment with confidence. With receipts. With data. With up to date information. With knowledge of HRT. With good questions. With the ability to communicate effectively with your provider. And, with the expectation that you will not be medically gaslit. AGAIN.
THAT's why I wrote this ebook.
And quite honestly, it may not be your doctor's fault. They were not taught about peri and post menopause in medical school. They were given a 4 hour lecture. Seriously. In the USA, 6,000 women enter menopause daily. There are 55 million of us...and the topic is barely covered in their training. Then, when you consider women get a very small percentage of research funding and outdated guidelines based on a poorly interpreted study from 2002...and, well..here we are.
THAT's why I wrote this ebook.
