Hey, I'm Dr. Abigail Joseph—and I built the bridge I couldn't find.
I know the tension between the Engineer and the Artist because I've lived it my entire life.
After 15 years as an educator—helping others build their dreams—I found myself completely burnt out. I had become an expert architect for everyone else's masterpiece and had forgotten how to even sketch one of my own.
So I took a "teacher gap year," a creative sabbatical that saved me. I found my way to a community makerspace and rediscovered the simple, profound joy of making things with my hands. That year wasn't an escape; it was a homecoming.
I created The Idea Studio Residency because I believe you shouldn't have to quit your life to reclaim your creativity. I am here to be the architect for your bridge—the one that connects the brilliant, capable professional you are with the joyful, creative soul you've been missing.
Introducing The Idea Studio Residency
The Residency is a 6-week creative sabbatical designed to help you build the first, essential layer of your legacy work.
This is not a course. It is a container of rest, rejuvenation, and profound creative connection. We use my proprietary Lab & Studio Method to bridge the gap between your strategic, high-achieving mind and your creative, playful soul.
The Lab makes sure you finish. The Studio makes sure you love what you've made.
After six weeks, you will hold the first, most critical layer of your project in your hands: your Draft Zero. The tangible "Day One" that moves your masterpiece from a dream into reality.
The Founding Cohort Experience (Nov 11 - Dec 16, 2026)
As a member of our intimate founding cohort of 10, you will receive:
6 x 90-Minute Live Studio Sessions: Our weekly creative sanctuary will be held on Wednesdays from [5:00 PM - 6:30 PM Pacific Time], starting November 11th. While you will get the most out of attending live, all sessions will be recorded and available within 24 hours. (Please note: The schedule for the week of Thanksgiving will be co-decided with the founding cohort to best accommodate everyone).
Private Founding Cohort Space: A dedicated private space for our cohort to connect, share progress, and collaborate. The specific communication method will be co-decided by our founding group to best suit our collective flow.
The Residency Toolkit: A curated collection of prompts and frameworks from The Lab & Studio Method.
A Private 1:1 Residency Review: Every member will receive a private, 45-minute 1:1 "Residency Review" with me at the conclusion of our 6 weeks. From this session, you will walk away with your Architect's Blueprint—a personalized roadmap for taking your masterpiece from 'Day One' and beyond.
