About Me
Hi I am Jacqui
Why is self-care so important to me?
In 2016, I was diagnosed with chronic high blood pressure due to stress. My life literally changed in an instant as a 26-year-old. To date, I have lived with this condition for 17 years.
High blood pressure is painless, but the fear and anxieties I felt over the years were crippling.
I had white coat syndrome, so every doctor's appointment was a nightmare. I was drowning in my own mind with thoughts of dying from a heart attack or stroke, leaving my kids behind without a mom.
Listen to one of the poems that I wrote when I was consumed with anxiety.
When my fears and anxieties became too unbearable, I started to look for ways to help me cope with my reality.
Poetry was my saving grace. Writing with deep vulnerability and compassion allowed me to take the thought out of my mind and onto paper, which in turn helped me deal with my emotions.

Self-care never stops.
I worked on my mindset, and the negative thoughts in my head and to reduce my stress.
Now, I embrace special moments in front of my eyes.
👉 Simple things like touching the tall grass while I walk.
👉 Truly feel the water on my body when I took a shower or bath.
👉 A beautiful relationship with my boys.
Living in the present moment is a gift you give to yourself by practising mindfulness.
Self-care is not fireworks. It’s only tiny actions you take toward the things that will feed your soul.
I don’t want you to get to life-threatening situations before you know you are worthy of self-care right now. I pushed the limits of my body, and it could not take the pressure any more.
Please pause
Take a moment and evaluate your life.
How can you be kinder to yourself?
How can you be more loving to yourself and your body?
What would you love to change right now to make you feel happier about your life?
These are some deep questions to ponder over.

A walk through healing is my poetry collection, navigating my way through fear and anxiety until I found calm and acceptance.
