Sometimes, what looks like laziness, defiance, forgetfulness, or not listening may be a child struggling with demands that are harder for an ADHD brain to manage.
Instead of asking, “Why won't my child do this?”, try asking:
“What could I change around them to make this easier?”
An ADHD-friendly home isn't about lowering expectations, making excuses, or treating your child differently. It's about creating an environment that reduces unnecessary friction and gives your child clearer paths to succeed.
Small changes can make everyday moments feel different—getting ready in the morning, following instructions, starting homework, finding belongings, transitioning between activities, or handling big emotions.
You don't have to change your child to support them. Sometimes, changing the environment is where the change begins.
