This policy is based on the final approved Memory Care Services rules passed by the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) on June 3, 2025.
It reflects the current compliance requirements governing Memory Care training, services, and documentation for licensed Assisted Living Facilities in Arizona.
At this time, final guidance from ADHS regarding Memory Care Trainer eligibility and approval processes is still pending. This policy will be updated promptly upon the release of any additional trainer requirements or clarifications from ADHS to help ensure your facility remains fully compliant with evolving state standards.
Your facilityâs Policies & Procedures Manual is a living document that should be actively maintained and updated as Arizona regulations evolve. With the passing of the new Memory Care Services rulesâand with additional trainer guidance from ADHS still pendingâyour policies must remain flexible and ready to adapt.
You may see offers for printed versions of memory care policies circulating at this time. Please proceed with caution: While printed manuals may appear convenient, they can become outdated quicklyâespecially during periods when final guidance and clarifications are still forthcoming from ADHS. In a fast-moving regulatory environment, it is critical that your facility maintains documentation that can be easily updated as new requirements are released.
That is why I provide this policy in an editable Word document formatâso you can easily personalize it for your facility, update it in response to new guidance, and maintain a current, survey-ready manual. If you do print a copy for your binder, I strongly recommend keeping an Addendum Section to document any future updates and changes.
Having personally navigated compliance updates for yearsâas a hospice operator and residential care ownerâI know that the ability to adjust your policies quickly and accurately is one of the most valuable protections your facility can have.
In addition to offering this and other compliance tools, I also provide paid resources that allow me to continue serving Arizona providers and to reinvest in creating additional support for the field.
One of my primary goals is to expand CEU-approved training opportunitiesânot just for Managers and Administrators, but also for Caregiversâso entire care teams can remain compliant and confident in meeting Arizonaâs evolving standards.
