This resource, Things to Consider as a New Teacher: Classroom Management Plan, provides an overview of the key questions to think through when establishing your classroom expectations, routines, and procedures. I would argue that this is one of the most important things you can do to prepare for a successful school year!
The truth is, how can you expect students to meet high expectations if you haven't clearly defined those expectations or taken the time to teach and model them? If I could go back to my first few years of teaching, these are all the things I wish I had considered to set both my students and myself up for success.
I know this document may seem overwhelming at first, but don't feel like you have to tackle it all at once. Work through it one section at a time. If you'd like to see how a fellow elementary teacher approaches all these questions, you can read through those in the filled out version. I got some help from one of my teacher friends, Danielle Burnham, who is going into her 6th year teaching lower elementary. The filled out version is over 40 pages and is jam-packed with everything you should consider to set up a successful K-3rd classroom.
After you purchase, you will be emailed a PDF with the links to access. There will be two links: one link that will take you to the questions with blanks for you to fill in and a second link to the filled out version. You are about to purchase the version that is best geared for Kindergarten - 2nd/3rd grade teachers. If you are looking for the upper elementary - secondary version, I have a separate link to access that one.
Also, please make sure to enter your email correctly during the checkout process. THANK YOU! -Kelly
