Rebecca Owen – Speaker, Advocate & Coach

Hi, I’m Rebecca. I talk honestly about mental health, identity, trauma and personal growth, sharing what it’s really like to experience and survive these challenges. My goal is for people to leave from my talks feeling more aware, inspired and maybe even a little braver about their own journey.

Alongside my lived experience, I hold qualifications in Root Cause Therapy (RCT), Life Coaching, Youth & Adolescent Counselling and Recognising and Responding to Domestic and Family Violence, as well as various in Mental Health. I use this mix of experience and training to help audiences understand what happens when systems fail and trauma goes unseen.

This work is deeply personal to me. My lived experience has shaped my commitment to advocating for women and raising awareness of family violence and the gaps within systems meant to protect with the aim of creating meaningful change for future generations.

Speaking Topics

Some of the key topics I speak on include the following and each talk can be tailored to suit the audience, event theme or industry.

  • Losing Yourself in Motherhood and Finding Your Way Back
An honest conversation about the realities of postnatal depression, recognising the signs and the journey back to wellbeing and self-connection.

  • How Trauma Steals Your Identity and How to Reclaim It
How trauma and life challenges can slowly disconnect us from who we are and the first steps toward reclaiming identity, confidence and direction.

  • Trapped Twice: Surviving Abuse and the Systems Meant to Protect
A lived-experience perspective on domestic violence, systemic failures and the challenges protective parents face navigating the family law system. This talk is about truth, survival and change.

  • The Intelligence We Ignore: What Our Dreams Are Trying to Tell Us
Exploring how dreams reflect the mind’s attempt to process emotions, experiences and unresolved patterns and how paying attention to them can deepen self-awareness and personal growth.

Media & Experience

I’ve shared my work, journey and insights focusing on raising awareness about mental health on ABC Radio, KISS FM, community radio, and TV including Studio 10, and in publications such as The Australian Women’s Weekly. I’ve represented PANDA as a Priceline Sisterhood Ambassador and Community Champion, and Beyond Blue, speaking at workplaces, events and conferences such as The Australian Women’s Weekly Mother’s Day Lunch.

I’ve also shared my lived experience of family violence, coercive control and systemic failures within the systems meant to protect, raising awareness and advocating for change alongside local government representatives at small and large-scale events such as the Central Coast Walk for Women and Reclaim The Night.

I also deliver corporate and professional talks focused on resilience, mental health awareness and trauma-informed understanding, helping leaders and teams build supportive, high-performing environments.
