IEP meetings involve a LOT of information, and as an administrator, I never want the meeting to be the first time I’m reviewing what I need to know.
I created this IEP Pre-Meeting Checklist as a simple, organized way to prepare before sitting down with the IEP team. It helps you review the important pieces, identify questions ahead of time, and walk into the meeting ready to listen, collaborate, and keep the student at the center of the conversation.
💗 Review the IEP
Review current goals, services, accommodations/modifications, progress, assessment data, and previous action items.
🧡 Know the Student
Consider student strengths, academic performance, behavioral/SEL information, attendance, staff input, family concerns, and supports that are already working.
💗 Connect With the Team
Confirm team members, connect with the case manager, clarify the purpose of the meeting, and identify information or resources that may be needed.
🧡 Prepare Your Admin Lens
Think through your role in the meeting, available schoolwide supports, implementation considerations, questions, and parent/guardian concerns.
