MTSS works best when everyone understands the process—not just the referral form. 🤍

I created this MTSS Staff Training Slide Deck to help school leaders clearly walk their teams through what MTSS can look like from identifying a student need to implementing supports, progress monitoring, collaborative problem solving, and determining next steps.

This is the approach I used to help my own staff better understand where they fit within MTSS, what happens at each tier, and who they can collaborate with along the way.

💡 Why I Created It

One of the biggest things I learned is that we can't expect teachers to confidently navigate MTSS if the system isn't clear.

The goal isn't for staff to memorize a flowchart. It's for them to be able to ask:

What have we tried? → What does the data tell us? → Who can help? → What should we try next?

I also recommend having your own MTSS team help facilitate the training whenever possible. Allowing your psychologist, counselor, intervention staff, special education team, and other providers to explain their roles helps build capacity across the entire staff.
