Teach It Early

Teach It Early — a short, practical guide to raising people who can govern themselves, so you don't have to stand over them forever.

If you have to stand over somebody forever, you have not finished teaching them.

That's the heart of Teach It Early.

This short, practical guide is about discipline the way it was meant to work: not punishment, not yelling, not repeating yourself until you're worn out — teaching. Clear boundaries.

Consistent consequences. And the road to independence, for them and for you.

Inside, you'll learn how to:

📖 Explain the expectation before you expect it — no more punishing people for failing a test they were never taught how to pass

📖 Give instructions people can actually follow, then shorten them as they grow

📖 Let routine do part of the teaching for you

📖 Interrupt the pattern early, before a small thing becomes a big thing

📖 Make consequences that actually make sense — connected to the choice, not just the frustration

📖 Stay consistent, because consistency beats intensity every time

📖 Lead without controlling, and give them room to practice making good decisions

Every chapter closes with THE RULE — the principle in one line — plus a "Put It Into Practice" section, so you can use what you read the same day you read it. It ends with a Quick Reference of the whole Teach It Early method, and the twelve principles I live by.

This book is for parents, grandparents, teachers, caregivers — anybody responsible for teaching another person how to govern themselves.

No hitting, no humiliating, no overpowering. Just teaching, done on purpose, with the goal of one day being able to say less — because they already know.
