The Temporary Orders Complete Bundle

Everything your temporary order needs, in one set. PDF + editable DOCX

Whatever your temporary order says is what your life looks like for the next twelve to thirty-six months, and the baseline the court assumes should continue when it writes the final decree. Most parents treat it like a placeholder. It's the bedrock the whole case runs on.

The catch: the right temporary order depends on a custody question you may not have answered yet, and even once you have, the order is two layers, not one. There's the universal core every temporary order shares, and there's the custody-and-schedule layer that's different for nesting, equal time, primary-residence, and split arrangements.

The three structures, in plain language

What “Joint 50/50” means, in plain language. Both parents share joint legal custody, meaning both participate in major decisions about education, medical care, and welfare. Physical custody is shared close to equally. “Close to equally” is doing real work in that sentence. Equal-time schedules vary widely, week-on/week-off, 2-2-3, 5-2-2-5, alternating blocks, and the overnight counts don't have to land on exactly half to be treated as an equal-time arrangement. What this framework addresses is the structure: two full households, symmetric authority, and a schedule both parents read the same way. The specific calendar is yours and your attorney's to set.

Sole physical / joint legal, in plain language. The children live primarily with one parent; the other has a defined parent-time schedule. The part most people get wrong: “sole physical” describes where the children sleep most nights. It doesn't transfer decision-making. Joint legal custody is preserved in most of these arrangements, so major decisions stay shared. How much parent-time the other parent has varies enormously, from the statutory minimum to something close to equal, and the structure still holds.

Split custody, in plain language. Two or more children, with at least one living primarily with each parent. Both parents typically still share joint legal custody of every child, not just the one in their home. The schedules don't have to match between siblings, and sibling time together is its own provision rather than a byproduct of the split. This is the arrangement with the most moving parts, which is exactly why consistent language across every stage matters most here.

Which structure describes your case is a legal question, and not one I can answer. I'm not an attorney. This describes what the framework covers so you can recognize whether it's in the neighborhood, then confirm it with counsel.

The Temporary Orders Complete Bundle is an educational drafting set containing Foundations of Temporary Orders plus all four custody frameworks. It is a starting point to bring to a licensed attorney, not legal advice, not a finished court document, and not a substitute for an attorney. Created by a parent who navigated the family court system, sold by ValuED Sales LLC dba May Divorce Be With You.

Why one set instead of pieces

Buy a single framework and you get one custody arrangement, plus the Foundations it depends on. That's the right call when you're certain. But temporary-orders custody questions aren't always settled when you start, and they don't always stay settled. A 50/50 plan can become primary-residence when one parent moves; a primary-residence arrangement can shift toward a split as a teenager's life changes. This bundle exists so you can compare arrangements side by side before you commit, and so a change of direction doesn't mean buying again.

What's inside

What's inside, Foundations plus all four frameworks:

•Foundations of Temporary Orders, the universal core every temporary order shares: plain-language education on what a temporary order is and why filing on time matters, the status-quo lock, and roughly two dozen universal provisions, plus a provisions checklist. This is the spine; read it first.

•Template N, Nesting. The children stay in the family home and the parents rotate. Nest-and-rotation structure, off-duty housing options, an absolute new-partner rule, and a sunset and transition clause. Requires both parties' agreement; a court won't impose nesting.

•Template J, Joint 50/50. Equal parent-time in two households. Three rotation patterns, exclusive use of the marital home, a 50/50-specific new-partner rule, and two child-support options side by side, because equal time doesn't automatically mean zero support.

•Template S, Statutory Minimum / Sole Physical. Children primarily with one parent, statutory minimum parent-time for the other, drafted to keep the primary-residence designation administrative only, with joint legal custody and decision-making preserved.

•Template A, Split Custody. Each parent the primary home for at least one child, with sibling-time provisions as the centerpiece and netted child support. Uncommon; for cases where a split has already been concluded, with counsel, to serve the children.

Each framework incorporates the Foundations universal provisions by reference and modifies only what's framework-specific. Read Foundations first, then your chosen framework, and the combination is your operative draft. Every framework also includes its own attorney notes and lessons, framed as one parent's observations. Not sure which framework is yours? Start with Foundations. The whole point of the bundle is that you don't have to know yet.

Which one fits

•The Pre-Filing Workbook and Bundle cover the quiet work before you file. They end where Foundations begins.

•This bundle covers the temporary-orders stage: Foundations plus all four frameworks.

•The Parenting Plan templates and Complete Bundle are for drafting the final decree, after the temporary-orders stage.

This may fit your situation if

•You haven't settled the custody question and want every arrangement on the table

•You expect the arrangement may shift before the case is over

•You want the most economical way in if you need more than one framework

What this is not: Legal advice. A legal service. A finished or court-ready document. A determination of which custody arrangement is right for your family. A child-support calculation for your case. A substitute for an attorney licensed in your state. A guarantee of any outcome.

⚠ Read Before Purchase

This is an educational publication, not legal advice. The author is not an attorney. Purchase does not create an attorney-client relationship, and no information shared with the seller is protected by attorney-client privilege. Materials were drafted with reference to Utah law. Statutory citations and procedural references will not match other states' law without modification. An attorney licensed in your state must review and approve every provision before use, including in Utah.

The drafting language was prepared with reference to Utah law, with statutory citations reflecting Utah's family law framework as renumbered into Title 81, effective September 2024. It will not match other states' law without modification. An attorney licensed in your state must review, modify, and approve every provision before any use in any proceeding, including in Utah.

A few framework-specific notes: nesting requires both parties' agreement and is not something a court will impose; equal parent-time does not by itself produce a zero child-support figure in most income-shares states; and split custody is uncommon and approached cautiously by courts. Each framework's own scope page covers this in full.

Do not use this product as your starting point if any of the following applies to your case: domestic violence; active protective order; substance abuse affecting parenting; CPS or DCFS involvement; abuse allegations (substantiated or not); active mental health crisis; international parental abduction risk; significant special needs; complex finances or hidden-asset concerns; or active parental alienation. In any of those situations, go directly to a licensed family law attorney.

This may not be the right starting point right now if any of these describe you: you're afraid of what the other parent will do if they learn you're preparing; there has been physical violence or a threat of it; there have been threats to take or harm the children, or you; the other parent monitors your phone, location, accounts, or movements; there's a current or recent protective order in either direction; or there's active substance abuse, severe untreated mental illness, or suicidal ideation in the home. Some of the preparation described here can increase danger in a relationship that's already dangerous. If even one applies, work with someone trained in safety planning first. A domestic violence advocate can help sequence things for your situation. National Domestic Violence Hotline: 1-800-799-7233 (text START to 88788), 24/7, free, confidential. In immediate danger: 911, always.

Terms & Conditions

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE CAREFULLY BEFORE USING THIS WEBSITE OR PURCHASING ANY PRODUCT.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the storefront, web pages, and digital products operated by ValuED Sales LLC, a limited liability company doing business as May Divorce Be With You (“the Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), including all products offered through our Stan storefront and any related pages (collectively, the “Site”).

By accessing or browsing the Site, or by purchasing, downloading, or using any product offered through the Site, you accept these Terms without limitation or qualification, and you acknowledge that any conflicting prior agreement between you and the Company is superseded. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site and do not purchase any product.

Plain-language summary (not a substitute for the full Terms): We sell educational, self-help legal-information products. They are not legal advice, we are not your lawyers, and they do not replace a licensed attorney. Please read Section 1 carefully — it is the most important part of this document.

1. Educational Purpose; Not Legal Advice

This Section is the most important part of these Terms. By purchasing or using any product offered through the Site, you acknowledge and agree to each of the following:

1.1  The products are educational information, not legal advice.

Every product sold or distributed through the Site — including templates, drafting bundles, addenda, workbooks, checklists, playbooks, courses, and accompanying materials — is general educational and informational content. No product is legal advice, and no product is a legal service. The products are intended to help you become a more informed, prepared participant in your own family law process. They are not a substitute for advice from a licensed attorney who knows the facts of your specific situation.

1.2  We are not attorneys, and no attorney-client relationship is created.

The author of the products and the Company are not attorneys and do not practice law. Purchasing a product, downloading it, reading it, using it, contacting the Company, or receiving any response from the Company does not create an attorney-client relationship between you and the Company or the author. Because no attorney-client relationship exists, no information you share with the Company is protected by attorney-client privilege or any comparable confidentiality protection.

1.3  We do not advise on, or customize products for, your specific situation.

The Company sells the same standardized products to all buyers. The Company does not customize, complete, or tailor any product for an individual buyer’s case; does not select among options, provisions, or strategies for a buyer; does not review, edit, or comment on a buyer’s draft documents, filings, or proposed agreements; and does not advise any buyer on what the buyer should do, file, sign, produce, or withhold in the buyer’s matter. Requests for any of the foregoing will be declined, and you will be directed to consult a licensed attorney. Where a product contains blank fields, bracketed placeholders, or optional language, those are for you to complete or decide — with the help of your own licensed attorney — based on your own circumstances.

1.4  Consult a licensed attorney.

Family law differs from state to state and changes over time. You should consult an attorney licensed in your state about your specific circumstances before relying on any product, before signing or filing any document, and before making any decision in your family law matter. Only a licensed attorney who knows the facts of your case can tell you what the law requires of you and what choices are appropriate for you.

1.5  Some situations require a licensed attorney now.

Some situations are not appropriate for self-help educational materials and call for professional legal representation right away. These include, without limitation: domestic violence; an active or contemplated protective order; substance abuse affecting parenting; involvement by Child Protective Services or the Division of Child and Family Services; allegations of abuse, whether substantiated or not; an active mental health crisis; risk of international child abduction; significant special-needs considerations; complex finances or concerns about hidden or dissipated assets; or active parental alienation. If any of these applies to you, your need for a licensed family law attorney is urgent. Our products may help you find and prepare to work with an attorney faster, but they are never a substitute for representation and never a reason to delay obtaining it. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or a domestic violence hotline.

1.6  Jurisdiction of the source material.

The author’s personal experience is with the Utah family court system, and some products use Utah examples. Nothing in any product should be assumed to state the law of your state. The attorney you consult — licensed in your jurisdiction — is your authority for what the law actually is.

1.7  No guarantee of outcomes.

The Company makes no representation, warranty, or guarantee regarding the outcome of any legal matter. No product can guarantee any result in any case. Outcomes in family law depend on facts, jurisdiction, the decision-maker, opposing parties, and many factors outside the Company’s knowledge or control. Any marketing statement should be read consistently with this Section: the products are educational tools, not a promise of any particular result.

2. Intellectual Property and License to Use Products

The Site and all content made available through it — including all text, questions, drafting notes, structural organization, graphics, images, documents, and other materials (collectively, the “Content”) — are the original work of the author and the property of the Company or its licensors, and are protected by United States and international copyright and other intellectual property law. The Company respects the intellectual property rights of others and asks the same in return.

Paid products. When you purchase a paid product, the Company grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable license to use that product for your own personal family law matter, including making copies for your own licensed attorney and your own court filings as needed for that matter. This license does not transfer ownership of the underlying work.

Free products. Certain products are offered at no charge as free educational guides. You may keep and print a free guide for personal use and may share the complete, unaltered file, free of charge, with others for non-commercial purposes. Sharing a free guide in full is permitted and encouraged.

Prohibited uses (all products). Regardless of whether a product was paid or free, you may not: sell a product or charge any fee for access to it (other than the Company’s own sale of a paid product); republish, excerpt, or repackage any portion of a product in another blog post, social media post, course, book, podcast, video, or other product, whether free or paid; create derivative works for resale or public distribution; present a product, in whole or in part, as your own work, or remove the author’s attribution; modify a product and redistribute the altered version; strip or alter any copyright notice, license language, or disclaimer; or use any product, in whole or in part, to train any artificial intelligence model or machine learning system.

Unauthorized reproduction or distribution of a product is a violation of copyright law and these Terms. The Company reserves the right to pursue all available legal and equitable remedies. To report a suspected infringement, or for licensing and permission inquiries, contact sruff@valuedsales.com with the relevant details.

3. Purchases, Delivery, and Refunds

Payment. Purchases are processed through our third-party payment processor (Stripe). You agree to provide a valid payment method and to pay all fees for products you purchase. Prices may change at any time. The Company does not provide price protection or retroactive adjustments for a later price reduction or promotional offer.

Delivery. Paid products are digital and are delivered electronically, typically as an immediate download upon completion of purchase. Free guides are delivered electronically. If a technical problem prevents or unreasonably delays delivery of a product you have paid for, your exclusive remedy is replacement of the file or a refund of the price paid, as the Company determines.

Refunds. Free products involve no charge, so no refund applies to them. For paid digital products, the Company offers a refund within fourteen (14) days of purchase upon request, provided the product file has not been downloaded. Because the products are instantly downloadable digital goods, once a product file has been downloaded the sale is final and no refund is available. To request a refund, contact sruff@valuedsales.com within the refund window.

Consistency note (delete before publishing): The refund terms above must match the refund language shown on each product page and in each post-purchase email. As drafted, this Section reflects a 14-day, pre-download refund window on paid products. If you decide on a different policy (for example, all sales final, or a different window), update this Section and every product description so they agree.

4. Acceptable Use and Account Conduct

You agree to use the Site and the products only for lawful, personal, non-commercial purposes consistent with these Terms. You agree not to misuse the Site, attempt to gain unauthorized access to it, interfere with its operation, or use it to infringe the rights of others. The Company may, in its sole discretion, limit or terminate access to the Site or to any product, or refuse a sale, if it determines that a user has violated these Terms.

Submissions. If you send the Company comments, suggestions, or other feedback about the Site or the products, you agree the Company may use that feedback without restriction and without obligation or compensation to you. Please do not send the Company confidential information or details of your legal matter; as stated in Section 1, no information you send is privileged or confidential.

5. Privacy and Communications

The Company collects limited personal information necessary to process orders and deliver products, such as your name and email address. The Company will not intentionally disclose personally identifying information about you to third parties except as needed to process your order through its payment and delivery providers, or where the Company in good faith believes disclosure is required to comply with the law or to enforce these Terms. Payment card details are handled by Stripe and are not collected or stored by the Company.

By registering or purchasing, you consent to receive communications from the Company relating to your order electronically, by email. Marketing emails are separate: you will only receive marketing communications consistent with applicable law and the preferences you select, and you may unsubscribe at any time. If the Company maintains a separate Privacy Policy, that policy is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

6. Third-Party Services

The Site relies on third-party services, including the Stan storefront platform and the Stripe payment processor, and may link to other third-party websites. The Company is not responsible for the performance, availability, content, or practices of any third-party service or website. Your use of a third-party service is governed solely by the agreement between you and that third party. A problem caused by a third-party service is governed by your agreement with that provider, not by these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL PRODUCTS AND CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE COMPANY DISCLAIMS ALL IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

THE COMPANY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PRODUCTS OR CONTENT ARE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, CURRENT, OR SUITABLE FOR ANY PARTICULAR USER’S CIRCUMSTANCES, OR THAT THEIR USE WILL MEET ANY USER’S EXPECTATIONS OR PRODUCE ANY PARTICULAR RESULT. AS STATED IN SECTION 1, THE PRODUCTS ARE EDUCATIONAL INFORMATION, ARE NOT LEGAL ADVICE, AND ARE NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR A LICENSED ATTORNEY. THE COMPANY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OR THAT FILES WILL BE FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. YOU USE THE SITE AND THE PRODUCTS AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain implied warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL THE COMPANY, OR ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS, BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, RELIANCE, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE, THE PRODUCTS, OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER OR NOT FORESEEABLE AND REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY, EVEN IF THE COMPANY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY OF THE COMPANY FOR ANY AND ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE, A PRODUCT, OR THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU ACTUALLY PAID FOR THE PRODUCT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. WHERE A CLAIM RELATES TO A FREE PRODUCT FOR WHICH YOU PAID NOTHING, THE COMPANY’S TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Company and its members, managers, officers, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party, or your use of the Site or any product. The Company may assume the exclusive defense of any matter subject to indemnification, in which case you agree to cooperate reasonably with the Company.

10. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Utah, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in the State of Utah for the resolution of any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms, the Site, or any product.

Note (delete before publishing): The source template specified Florida / Orange County, which does not match a Utah LLC. This Section has been corrected to Utah. Confirm with your attorney that Utah is the venue you want, and whether you wish to name a specific county.

11. Changes, Severability, and General Terms

The Company may revise these Terms from time to time by updating this posting, and the revised Terms apply from the date posted. Your continued use of the Site or purchase of a product after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If any provision of these Terms is held unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision is severable and does not affect the validity of the remaining provisions. The provisions of these Terms are for the benefit of the Company and its licensors, each of whom may enforce them. These Terms are the entire agreement between you and the Company regarding the Site and the products, and supersede any prior understanding on that subject.
