I would really like to help you train smarter, more efficiently.
Whether you are streaming online workout programs, using an app on your phone, or exercising based on a program created by another fitness professional or by me, you are working to achieve the best possible form for each movement.
And proper form leads to increased strength, improved skills, greater efficiency with less effort, and of course, practicing good form keeps you from getting injured!
No matter where you exercise, it isn't easy to assess and correct your own form and progress. Over the years, I have hired several trainers and coaches to provide tips and corrections on fundamental movements, especially my kettlebell swing, deadlift, and Turkish get-up.
I, like you, am a student, and like I tell my clients, there is no end or finish line to this exercise thing; there is only better, and then even better.
It is way too easy to fall into poor, bad, and straight-up incorrect exercise and movement patterns. Despite what you may have heard, muscles don’t have memory. So, muscle memory, yeah, that doesn’t exist. But your brain/central nervous system does have memory, and they are the drivers of your movement patterns.
The last thing you want to practice is incorrect, faulty, or poor movement patterns when you are dedicating all your time to exercising and training. If you do, you end up practicing a movement incorrectly hundreds or thousands of times, which then takes hundreds or thousands of repetitions to correct in your brain and nervous system.
To state the obvious, this is inefficient training.
It creates compensation patterns in your body that take a very long time to correct, if ever, and they create new problems that need to be addressed sooner rather than later. This is precisely why a 20-year-old right ankle sprain can develop into a right hip and eventually a left shoulder problem down the road.
Weird and cool at the same time, right?
The body is amazing at compensating.
As a movement specialist trained in corrective exercise assessment and prescription, I can help you save time and effort by providing the external feedback you need on an exercise or movement.
All you need to do is send me videos of you doing the exercise or movement you would like me to critique.
Specifically, you will need to send me all of the following movements of your selected exercise:
A front-facing video view of yourself doing 3-5 reps.
A right-side video view of you doing 3-5 reps.
A left-side video view of you doing 3-5 reps.
Finally, a back-facing video view of you doing 3-5 reps
Take as much time as you need to rest between sets if you are doing heavy or combination movements that require a lot of nervous system activation, such as a Turkish get-up.
Please email me your videos upon completion.
I am the only person who will be reviewing your video.
I will review all of your videos and provide a coaching assessment through email and/or video that will include the following (as needed):
Corrections and adjustments to your form
Suggestions and recommendations for modifications or substitutions
Feedback on intensity
Tips for progressions
I can provide you with coaching whether you are using free weights, kettlebells, dumbbells, exercise bands, a TRX suspension training system, stability balls, a BOSU, or bodyweight.
The exercise can be strength-based, core-specific, or mobility-based.
After I send you your coaching assessment, you can ask any follow-up questions for clarification.
