This is a 9,000 word, 1 hour and 7 minute Audio-Book, in the voice of the Author, Peter D'Agnes, about my personal journey in breaking free of a Toxic Family Dynamic, reclaiming my power and healing my soul. I share in-depth, the experience of being the black sheep and outsider in my family, a certain knowing that I was born into the family to be an "oppositional force" of contrast in order to learn certain lessons. I share the story of how I reached rock bottom and built myself up from scratch, leaving New York starting a new life for myself alone in Arizona for the last 5 years.
My hope is that this book will assist those who are struggling in Narcissistic Family Dynamics where they were suppressed or devalued. I detail the steps I took, and the adversity I overcame in childhood, adolescence and adulthood to break these "Generational Curses" and become a strong and independent individual capable of expressing my emotions confidently and my passion in life is to help others find their own voice and their own power.

Excerpt:
"The black sheep soul has signed up for this work and I am confident in his ability to persevere and achieve independence from the family, and prosper. Ultimately, I believe the path of healing self will inevitably lead him to share his knowledge and lead others in their healing process. The goal is not to âsaveâ your family, and lift them out of suffering, as this is not possible, even if that may be your idea early in life. One must understand that he can only save himself, and change himself. After you experience change, and heal yourself from the inside out, then you can be an example and a positive role model in the world. Your family can decide to follow your lead, and eventually may want to hear of your lessons learned and wisdom accumulated along the way. However, your family also may never ask or have the slightest interest in anything you do. The other family members are comfortable in the routine and behavioral dynamics of the family. When a lifestyle, shared family traditions, and behaviors are familiar and do not threaten a personâs tightly held belief systems, they may never question or even have an interest to explore anything outside of it, like a domesticated animal at the zoo.
At some point, a personâs desire to live and experience the passion and freedom of adventure, fades. They succumb to the repeated pattern of learned helplessness. Within the family dynamic, the bad behavior is either enabled or barely even noticed, as it is business as usual.
The black sheep feels a very heavy weight, a large âcross to bearâ pain as this soul will play the role of mirror for this entire trauma bubble, or âtrauma organismâ latching onto each person. The black sheep will mirror back the projections of siblings and parents. In other words, family members project (energetically dump) the feelings inside themselves that they do not understand, the âbadâ or âdarkâ feelings onto the more intuitive, energetically large or âbright,â disruptive soul in the clan. If the intuitive, sensitive soul has an innate understanding of integrating dark and light within self, then they will also implicitly understand their role in shining light in dark places, in their incarnation on earth. Oftentimes people use the term âlight workerâ, but I believe the term âshadow workerâ or âdark workerâ is more fitting.
If the family is at a limited level of emotional intelligence, they will create labels of mental illness for the black sheep, as this is the distorted view of Western Psychology. They will see the black sheep as âweird, strangeâ intimidating or they will simply be unsettled and triggered. From early childhood, the black sheep will experience the full range of the cumulative projections of everyone in the family (they all use the black sheep as a mirror). The outsider soul may feel the toxicity (the unexamined, unhealed shadow of family) and interpret it as his own issues and toxicity when it is not. âWith great power comes, great responsibility.â It helps to eventually understand that you would not have been given the burden, if you could not overcome it. You were given an immense hardship in this life, because you have a great mission to carry out and many lives to impact on the way. The person you will be on the other end of this, will have been weathered and hardened in the heat of battle.
As the outsider soul has a higher core frequency, his light shines brighter than the rest of the family. This soulâs light is so strong, that he may feel as though he has received unwarranted hate and random aggression, from family, classmates, and friends throughout his life. The black sheepâs energy signature is unique, like a high pitch or tone that can be unsettling and triggering for people at a lower level of awareness, almost like a high pitched ring that is capable of shattering glass."
.........
"This world always felt like this overwhelming, heavy, crushing weight, everywhere I went and everything I did. A vague yet ever-present melancholy followed me everywhere I went. Since being a small child, I had a nostalgia, a yearning for another world, an inherent feeling that this place is not my real home. I felt distant and far away from everything and everyone. As a child, I often felt that my family wasnât my real family. As I grew into adolescence and adulthood, I more and more felt that blood family here on Earth, it was an idea, a framework, a belief system that is one way of interpreting reality, but it is not the only way. As I ventured out and explored more in the world, as I began to spiritually awaken, I saw that there are other definitions and versions of âfamily.â There is soul family, cosmic family, and galactic family and that this journey as a soul across eternity is filled with many different types of intimacy, love, and soul family relationships.
I needed to make peace with my feeling of âalienâ-ness. I felt as though, often, sitting in the grass, staring into the sky, a sense of perfection, a sense of peace that was untouchable, enduring, and eternal, despite a finite physical existence. I was prone to daydreaming, and retreating to my internal world of imagination. My internal âworldâ or the center of it, was not here on earth. As a child, I often felt as if I was placed awkwardly, or mistakenly on a planet that I never belonged, that there must have been a mistake that occurred."
