When it comes to animation projects, sound often gets left until the last minute, both in the budget and the actual production process. For independent, or self-funded projects, this can negatively impact the quality of the finished project.
There are some ways to avoid these pitfalls.
During the Casting and Voice Over for Independent Projects call, I:
Help the animation director/filmmaker break down their sonic vision
Sketch out a quick "wish list" based on the ideal sonic world and price it
Clarify what can actually be achieved with the budget that the project has in place
Provide suggestions about how to stretch the budget further
Point out places where "cutting corners" will also mean noticeably cutting quality
Provide a realistic timeline for audio delivery based on the project scope
My goal is to help the project stay on budget while sounding as good as it possibly can.
