Reader Experience Review & Story Diagnostic

Your opening chapters are the most important pages in your manuscript. Get detailed editorial feedback from a professional editor who specializes in clean and Christian fiction — so the advice actually fits the book you're writing.

You've been working on your manuscript for a while now. You've read the craft books, you've revised, you've tried to see your own pages clearly. But at some point, every writer hits the same wall: you're too close to your own work to see what a reader actually experiences when they open it.

That's not a failure of skill. It's just the nature of writing. You know what you meant to say. A reader only knows what's on the page.

This is what the Reader Experience Review is for.

Submit up to 5,000 words of your manuscript and receive personalized editorial feedback on your opening chapters, with detailed comments on:

  • Pacing — where the story moves well and where it's losing momentum

  • Characterization — whether your characters feel like real people or fictional constructs

  • Dialogue — what your characters are saying on the surface and what's (or isn't) running underneath

  • Tension — how effectively you're creating the pressure that keeps readers turning pages

  • Reader engagement — what's creating immersion and what's quietly breaking it

Every piece of feedback is grounded in craft principles that apply to clean and Christian fiction specifically. You won't receive advice that assumes your tension needs to come from romantic or physical escalation. The feedback will meet your manuscript where it actually lives.

"Working with Ela was exactly what I needed. Not only is she friendly and supportive, but also knowledgeable.

I started the process terrified and ended with the comfort that I could do this, especially if I trusted God. Ela not only edits, she coaches, and both blend seamlessly together.

If I found myself mired in self-doubt, she quickly reassured and redirected me.

I don't think my book would have been published without her."
— Jazmin

Your opening chapters are what agents read, what readers sample, and what determines whether someone stays in your story or puts it down. Getting a trained, outside set of eyes on them is one of the most useful things you can do for your book.

The Reader Experience Review & Story Diagnostic investment is applied towards a future full developmental or line edit.

Once you submit your pages, I’ll personally review your story and return your completed edit within 2 weeks. I’ll confirm your expected delivery date after purchase 🤍
