Here's how to find out what's really going on.

I'm Ranzie, a Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist (C-SLDI) and a reading specialist with 14 years in the classroom. I'm also the mom of a son with dyslexia, and he's the reason I do this work.

I've sat on the other side of the table at a school meeting. I know how scary it is to hear those things about your own child. Last year, my son went to reading intervention and worked with me at home. In six months, he went from reading 11 words per minute to over 60.

Your child does about 30 minutes of reading and spelling with my videos. I look at the work myself, and I send you a report in plain language so you know what to practice at home and what to ask for at school.

This is for you if your child

  • Guesses a word from the first letter or looks at the picture instead of the word

  • Knows a word one day and has no idea what it is the next

  • Says each sound (c-a-t) but can't put the sounds together into "cat"

  • Cannot spell words they can read, or leaves letters out when spelling

  • Knows high frequency words on flashcards, but misses them in a book

  • Avoids, cries, or suddenly needs a snack every time the reading homework comes out

It's also for you if you have a parent teacher conference coming up and want to walk in knowing what to ask for.

How it works

  1. Press play on the first of five short videos. I guide your child through everything. They spell some words and a couple of sentences, read some words out loud, and do a one-minute read and tell me what it was about.

  2. Snap a photo of your child's paper and record the reading parts on your phone. Upload everything to your private Dropbox folder.

  3. Within 7 days, your child's Skills Report is in your inbox.

You don't teach, test, or grade anything. You press play and sit close by, whenever it fits your week.

What you get

  • My personal review of your child's work. I look at every word your child wrote and read, so you can trust the report is about your child and not a computer score.

  • Your child's Skills Report in plain language. Each skill shows how many your child got right, marked Mastered or Keep working, so you can stop guessing and know what to practice.

  • My professional opinion on whether to be concerned and what your next step should be, so you can stop lying awake wondering.

Here's a real page from a Snapshot report

What parents are saying

Kat got her son Evan's report and wrote back right away:

"This is awesome!!!!! I love the feedback!!"

She said it helped that the report starts with what he does well, because "it's easy to always focus on the weaknesses... as a parent."

The next steps section mattered too: "next steps are so helpful when a parent is overwhelmed."

Kat shared the report with Evan's grandma, who called it "an amazing product."

Another mom walked into her son's school with something on paper instead of just a worry.

"I thought the report was very thorough. It helped me understand where he's at in a more measurable way."

She is now using his report to ask for a special education evaluation. Most parents don't know they are allowed to ask for one.

You might be wondering...

Isn't it too early to worry? The early grades are when reading skills are being built, so it's the easiest time to help. A Snapshot shows you what's mastered and what needs more practice before the next grade asks for more.

My child's teacher says he's doing fine. Teachers are doing their best with a whole class of readers. Some patterns only show up when one person sits down and looks closely at one child's work. Your report gives you and the teacher something to look at together.

Which level do I need? Take the free level check at level-check.readingwithranzie.com. It tells you which level fits your child in a few minutes.

I need Level 1 or Level 2. When do I get my videos? End of October. You'll get an email the day they open, and you lock in the founding price today.

I'm not a teacher. What if I do it wrong? There's nothing for you to get right. I tell your child what to do on the video. Your job is to press play, record, and snap a photo.

What if my child melts down? The Snapshot is split into five short videos, and you can do them on your own schedule. You can pause anytime and come back another day. When I practiced these videos with my own son, we paused the spelling video halfway through and finished it on a different day because he was having such a hard time. That's completely okay! If one part takes more than one recording, send them all. I'll get what I need. The only part that can't be paused is the one-minute read, because it has to be exactly one minute.

Is $27 really worth it? A private evaluation often costs hundreds of dollars and comes with a long wait. This gives you a specialist's review of your child's work for $27.

What happens after I get the report? You'll know what to practice at home and what to ask for at school. If you want to talk it through, you can book a follow-up chat with me by Zoom or phone. Ask me anything about your child's Snapshot, their reading, or what to do next. I keep your child's files for 3 months, so you can book a chat anytime in that window. Booking details come with your report.

Who sees my child's work? Only me. You upload everything to a private Dropbox folder, and no one else sees or hears anything your child does. After 3 months, I delete the files. If you'd like a new report after that, you'll purchase a new Snapshot. I will never use your child's work in my content, or anywhere else, without your permission.

Please note I am not diagnosing your child. This is an educational skills check, not a formal evaluation, and it does not diagnose dyslexia or any other condition. It gives you a clear picture of where your child is right now and a starting point you can use at home or bring to their teacher, their school, or an evaluator.
