Let me tell you something. When I went blind in that hospital, and later when they told me my kidneys were failing, nobody handed me a list. Nobody said, “Here’s what to ask. Here’s what to watch. Here’s what to push for.” I had to figure it out the hard way, with a whole lot of phone calls and a few times blowing up on some folks.

So I made the list I wish I’d had.
