Discover Slow Living: Your Escape Plan [5]

Discover Slow Living: Your Escape Plan [5]

$19$50

50 pages and 30 exercises to compare places honestly, plan your money and test a new home before you move.

If you like hiking or slow travel, you know the moment. You walk a bit further than everyone else, the crowd disappears, and suddenly it's just you, a lake and the sound of the wind. You start thinking how good it would be to live somewhere like this.

I live near places like that now. For most of my life I was in very big cities. Today my home is a much smaller city in the north of Poland, with medieval castles, clean lakes and forest all around. I’m also a licensed local guide here. Visitors usually come for the famous sights and the history of the region (which was part of East Prussia and the Germans mostly lived here) until 1945. But often, the quiet lake that wasn’t in their guidebook is what they talk about later.

Your quiet place doesn't have to be here. There are small towns and calm regions in every country, places where life is slower and often cheaper. The hard part is choosing well and making it work with your job and your budget. That's what this guide is for.

The most practical part: comparing two real places

In chapter 2 you take your current city and a quieter place you're curious about. For both, you look up the monthly cost of rent, groceries, transport, internet or coworking, eating out twice a week, and utilities. Then you see the difference in black and white, and you write down what you would do with the money and time you free up.

Right after that, you mark yourself on a simple line between big city and deep countryside. Some people are happiest in a village with fast internet, others in a small town where they can walk to the market. The exercise shows you which one is you.

What else you will work out

  • Your must-haves for a new place, from nature and quiet to good internet

  • Which of your skills can earn money from anywhere

  • A test stay where you live like a local for a weekend or a week

  • A first-week plan for when you actually move

Who wrote it

I'm Aleks, the founder of Slovlog. I have worked online with clients from several countries for years. After moving I also became a licensed local guide, so I now spend part of my week outdoors with people visiting the region. That second, offline job came from slowing down. I didn't plan it.

This guide is for you if

  • You live in a big, busy city and feel tired more often than you'd like to admit

  • Your work is online or could become online

  • You want to decide with real numbers, and you'd rather test a place than jump

If you already moved somewhere quieter, chapters 2 and 3 will still help with money and routines.

There's no visa or tax advice for specific countries inside. Those depend on where you go, so check them locally.

The price

The guide is $19. You get the PDF by email right after paying.

Questions

Is it a printed book? No, it's a 50-page PDF that you can print or fill in on a screen.

I'm not ready to move. Is it still useful? Yes. Chapters 1 to 3 are about understanding what you want, your income and your days. You can stop there and move in a few years, or never.

Does it only work for Europe? No. I use my region as an example in a few places, and every exercise works in any country.

What if it's not for me? Let’s be honest: I wrote this ebook myself, drawing on my own experience and weeks of work. It’s not AI slop or a collection of generic tips. It’s a personal perspective on slow living that I hope will help you see things differently.
I’ve shared a screenshot and a preview so you can get a feel for the book before spending your money. Please take a look and decide whether it’s for you. If it isn’t, no hard feelings. In London, I worked as a freelance designer with a full calendar and impressive clients, but I was always chasing deadlines and undercharging. Coffee-fueled days and late-night edits turned creativity into a chore. One rainy afternoon, stuck in traffic, I stared at a photo of a quiet Portuguese village I’d visited years earlier. I didn’t need more hustle – I needed space to breathe. I sold most of my things and moved to a whitewashed house near the coast. Work stayed, but I reshaped it: fewer clients, better output. Mornings start with cliff walks, afternoons designing at my kitchen table. I’ve learned the tides, met the bakery’s regulars, and embraced unhurried days. I didn’t escape to hide – I left to truly arrive.

In Chicago, I worked in corporate sales for over a decade. The pay was good, but every day felt like wearing someone else’s life. I don’t measure my life in sales targets anymore. I measure it in books read, sunsets seen, and new skills learned. For the first time, I feel like my life is mine.

Three years ago, I was living in a high-rise apartment in Berlin, working 60 hours a week as a project manager. I had money, but no time, and my health was starting to suffer. I thought about slowing down, but I didn’t know where to start. Then I spent a weekend in a small Polish town in Warmia- Mazury – surrounded by lakes, spruce forests, and quiet red- brick streets – and something clicked.
