About Quandra

Quandra Gray is an MBE, SBE, and WBE-certified agriculture consultant and the founder of What The Sprout LLC, a Baltimore-based community food production company building food systems in the neighborhoods that need them most. She grew up on Baltimore's west side and came back to build what was never there: food production, education, and connection in communities shaped by decades of disinvestment.

Quandra holds a Master of Architecture from Hampton University and works as a community food systems strategist. Through What The Sprout, she designs and installs the infrastructure that keeps producing food long after a workshop ends: indoor vertical farms, outdoor grow beds, and community orchards. She's served more than 1,000 community members through hands-on agriculture education, earned multiple contracts with Baltimore City Recreation and Parks as a trusted vendor, and grown What The Sprout into a certified business. As an AmeriCorps member and through partnerships with Morgan State University, the Baltimore Office of Sustainability, and the Langston Hughes Community, Business & Resource Center, she's turned parts of Park Heights into a working food production, education, and gathering hub.

Her latest project is Sow Dirty, an investigative podcast about agriculture: land, air, and sea. It covers the whole system, from the soil and the water to the people and decisions that shape it. She started it because she believes people can't change a system they don't understand. Through the show, she investigates how agriculture really works and who holds the power behind it, and she looks forward to inspiring Marylanders and beyond to get educated about the environment around them and take action to shape it.
