Deconstructing Desire is a deep dive into the psychology behind desire and everything we can attach to the things we want. Throughout this webinar, we go beyond simply identifying a desire and begin pulling apart the meanings, feelings, expectations, identities, fantasies, and internal states that can become attached to it.
We explore what makes certain desires so psychologically significant, what we expect the things we desire to give us access to, and how our desires can sometimes reveal parts of ourselves or our lives that we have yet to cultivate. We also get into the shadow side of desire—the motives and parts of our wanting that may be harder to admit, acknowledge, or own.
Throughout the webinar, I use sex, relationships, marriage, children, attraction, and being desired to show what deconstructing a desire actually looks like when you take it beyond the surface. I also get into my philosophy of sex as a lifestyle, receptivity, pleasure, sensation, and how cultivating certain states within your everyday life can completely change your relationship with sexual desire and what you are looking for sex to provide.
This isn't about teaching you that your desires are wrong or convincing you that you shouldn't want what you want. You may deconstruct something and still desire it just as much. The purpose is to understand what belongs to the desire itself and what you have attached to it.
By the end, you'll have a framework you can use to begin questioning your own desires differently: What do I actually want? What does having it mean to me? What am I expecting it to make me feel? What does it validate about me? What state am I trying to access through it? And what is my desire revealing about me?
