TKC Lost in Translation

TKC Lost in Translation

$1,497$1,996

You're not stuck. You're being lost in translation.

The 5-session programme for people who keep applying and keep hearing nothing back.

You are qualified. You know you are the right person for these roles. The problem is that your CV is not making that case, and until it does, you will not make the short-list.

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

Who is this for?

This programme is for you if you are:

  • Sending targeted applications to roles you are genuinely qualified for and getting very little back

  • Confident in what you can do on the job but unable to make that obvious on paper

  • Watching the process from the outside because you cannot seem to get to interview stage

  • Wondering whether it is your background, your sector, or just your CV, and not sure which problem to solve first

  • Ready to stop adjusting and start positioning

⠀⠀

This is not for everyone. This is for the person who has done the work, has the experience, and still cannot get a recruiter or hiring manager to respond. The issue is not your track record. It is how your track record reads.

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

Most people respond to silence with volume. They send more applications, tweak the same CV, and hope something lands. The applications pile up, and the silence continues.

The issue is rarely effort. It is translation. What you have done, the way it is written, does not map cleanly onto what a recruiter is looking for, and in times where supply for roles far surpasses demand, they move on to the next CV in seconds.

TKC Lost in Translation is a five-session one-to-one coaching programme that takes you from invisible to interview-ready, starting with the CV and ending with a clear, positioned case for why you are the hire.

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

The problem is that something that makes sense to you does not have to make sense to someone else, especially if that someone is HR. That's the gap this programme is build to close.

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

This is for you even if...

  • Your background does not follow a straight line and you are not sure how to make it read as one

  • You haven't been through a formal hiring process for some time and everything feels unfamiliar

  • You have updated your CV multiple times and it still does not feel right

  • You are not sure whether the problem is your CV, your LinkedIn, or something else entirely

  • You feel like you are doing everything you are supposed to do and it is still not working

⠀⠀

⠀⠀

What we cover across 5 sessions

⠀⠀

1

Your story as one thread.

We find the through-line. Everything you have done, across sectors, roles, and formats, reframed as a coherent case for the work you are applying to now. This is the foundation everything else builds on.

⠀⠀

2

The CV, rebuilt.

Not tidied up. Rebuilt. Language, structure, and positioning that makes your fit for a role obvious to a recruiter before they reach the second line. ATS-ready and human- eyes ready.

⠀⠀

3

LinkedIn and visibility.

Your profile updated to match your repositioned CV and support your applications. How to make your presence work for you even when you are not actively sending anything out.

⠀⠀

4

The application strategy.

Fewer, better applications. How to target roles where your background lands well, how to tailor without starting from scratch, and how to stop sending into the void.

⠀⠀

5

Interview preparation.

An introduction to the CBi (competency-based interviewing) framework and how to tell your story out loud as clearly as it now reads on paper. By this point, getting the call back will become a matter of when not if.

⠀⠀

About Marilena Stegbauer

I work with people who are good at what they do and are tired of being invisible

I'm Marilena and since 2020, I've been working with people navigating career transitions across sectors, levels, and geographies. I've worked with academics moving into industry, executives pivoting from non-profit to private sector, and professionals whose backgrounds didn't fit neatly into any box.

I built TKC Lost in Translation because I kept seeing the same thing: people with genuinely strong track records not getting interviews because of their CV. Not because they weren't good enough, but because nothing in their preparation had taught them how to translate their experience into the language the process expects.

My approach isn't to reshape you. It's to find the organisation where you can be exactly as you are and make sure they can see that.

I am the founder of The Kind Career and the number-one-rated career coach on Superprof in the UK in career coaching, leadership, and pitching. I work with professionals from all walks of life who are qualified on paper but not yet getting the results they deserve. Before becoming a professional full-time coach, I spent seven years working at the highest levels of human rights advocacy, a career that led me to be invited to the White House, UK Houses of Parliament, Japanese Diet as well as many other European parliaments, universities and think tanks. In 2023, I was recognised by a leading US policy institute for my dedication to human rights & democracy and featured in Forbes.

From the first time we spoke, Marilena shared so much wisdom and insight that was immediately applicable to the communications and leadership challenges I was facing. She balances empathy and knowledge to go at the right pace, taking you on a journey to build confidence and put new suggestions into practice. She unlocked a new skillset I really needed and made it feel easy. I have already recommended Marilena to friends and colleagues and would do so again without hesitation.

I've found working with Marilena to be extremely helpful. She brings a clear structure and confidence to each session, and always seems to know how to approach the next step in the process. So far we've worked extensively on refining my CV, identifying suitable opportunities, improving supporting statements, and developing my LinkedIn profile. More recently we've begun discussing interview preparation and networking strategies, which feels like a natural progression as my job search evolves. What I've particularly valued is that the sessions are practical and tailored to my circumstances. Rather than offering generic advice, Marilena takes the time to understand my background and helps me present my experience more effectively and strategically. I've chosen to continue booking sessions because I feel the work we've done together has been worthwhile, and I think the longer-term focus on interviews, networking and career direction will be equally valuable.

Before I worked with Marilena, I felt that I lacked clarity regarding how to position myself and to communicate my strengths effectively. Marilena helped me crystallize my strengths without omitting what makes me unique. She helped me find the common thread between all the roles that I have had to suitably align with my ideal role. The materials she provided helped harness my versatility from a vantage point and an asset instead of viewing it as liability to position me well.

It is no doubt hard to highlight the most important skills when applying for a job, but what I really appreciated in Marilena’s thoughtful guidance was that she pointed out what would be the best for me, and in the end, it perfectly and successfully worked for me. As a result of Marilena’s excellent and supportive guidance, I got to the interview stage and got the job as a Project Manager in one of the established feminist non-profit organisations.

Hi Marilena. In very exciting news, I have two upcoming interviews next week! They are still preliminary stages but I really want to thank you for your help. I truly believe that the changes to my CV made a world of difference.

Marilena's coaching was a turning point for me early in my career. I was shortlisted for a highly competitive ICRC traineeship alongside over 800 applicants, and while I had the CV and qualifications, her guidance empowered me to find my voice and truly own the interview. That breakthrough laid a strong foundation for my international career, which eventually led me to land different roles at the United Nations. Her ability to help clients tap into their inner confidence is unmatched, and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to make their next big professional leap.

Working with Marilena during the early phase of my career was a complete game-changer. She doesn't just look at your CV, she sees your true potential, breaks down the overwhelming job market into an actionable strategy, and gives you the exact confidence and tools you need to build a striking CV. Her meticulous attention to detail and exceptional organisation skills helped me navigate the initial chaotic entry level job hunt. She was my absolute anchor from my master's graduation to my first big corporate breakthroughs, and her brilliant guidance was instrumental in helping me build a successful global career in human rights.

Marilena was instrumental in helping me reach the interview stage, offering guidance throughout the process. Her lessons are in-depth, and the resources she provides are well-structured, practical, and tailored to individual.

Marilena encouraged me to be more confident in my approach to job applications because the experience I got from volunteering has given me unique skillsets and expertise but most importantly many years of experience. I just need to package myself well and apply for roles more aligned to my purpose and experience. I did just that and it has had a significant impact.

Marilena is incredibly warm and immediately puts you at ease, making her sessions especially valuable if you struggle with interview nerves. She is genuinely committed to helping her clients succeed, providing comprehensive written resources alongside the sessions and giving exceptionally detailed, thoughtful feedback on interview answers. Her support played a key role in helping me secure a job in the UK civil service.

Marilena is very responsive, supportive and considerate. She truly listened to all my concerns and built a plan tailored specifically to me. She continues to be supportive and checks in outside of our session times which has been invaluable. Cant wait to continue my sessions with Marilena.

I met Marilena through a mutual friend, and she has been amazing at coaching me during my job search. She has helped me understand how to stand out during the application process and how to effectively demonstrate value to future employers. Every time I had a question regarding my CV or needed to prepare for an interview, she found time in her schedule to support me.
