Focusing on the welfare of each dog, person, and household, I’m proud to use modern, welfare focused, effective, reward-based, fear free, and humane methods of care and training. During the consult, we will discuss how to work with your dog while meeting the entire household’s needs.
We will go over how to recognize your dog’s body language cues so you’re able to gain further understanding about what they need and how they’re asking you to meet those needs.
We will also discuss consent, choice, cooperative vs collaborative care and gear (leash, collar, harness, etc) so that you and your pup are as comfy as possible with how you’re interacting and working together. My wish for you is to feel great about your training sessions whether with me or in daily life with your dog.
Some favorite ways to meet a dog’s needs include enrichment, games, fitness, tricks, and creative use of the environment. All those things are useful in teaching you how to get alternative behaviors to those frustrating, undesirable behaviors. I will share some of my top secrets!

Jen’s Consult is so packed full of information, we were taking notes the entire time! She is such a great listener, gave us time to ask questions, and she understood exactly what we were describing happens when our dog goes out of his mind. We had our doubts that “virtual dog training” was even for us because we thought the trainer would need to see our bulldog going berserk over other dogs and fence fighting with a neighbors dog. Jen didn’t need to see our dog in crazy mode to get it and our last trainer insisted on taking our dog out to the dog park and put us all in a very uncomfortable and unsafe situation. My dog went crazy, spinning, snarling, spitting and the other trainer put a pinch collar on him and my dog froze then plopped down on the ground. The trainer said , “You just need the right tool and he’ll stop it.” We had him remove the pinch collar and left the session early. We then cancelled the four remaining sessions at our financial loss. We are so glad we found Jen before our dog became worse and that she validated our feelings about what our dog went through. We beat ourselves up over using that other trainer and Jen helped us feel so much better about where we were and how to help Henry feel better about life. We did the consult and 3 virtual sessions with Jen and we are all in for our dog. We are more confident and have ways of preventing Henry’s freak outs instead of putting him in unnecessary situations. We weren’t aware of most of the triggers and that by taking him to certain places he was just practicing and getting better at going out of his mind. We were basically winding him up. Jen helped us work through so much and taught us the skills to handle most situations that can sometimes come up, which is a really big deal in a dense city environment. Henry is a much happier boy when he goes out now, compared to being on edge, ready for a fight, and pulling us so hard my wife almost had to have shoulder surgery. We are so grateful for Jen’s compassionate guidance and she really knows her stuff! She worked with our busy schedules and only gave us homework we could do, she made the whole process pretty easy for us to work with our big boy in a way that fit us. It’s still hard work but having a trainer like Jen in our corner who is there to help us for the rest of Henry’s life is so wonderful. Do the consult! Jen can and does help!
