Surfing demands strength, mobility, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
Surf Strength + Breath Mechanics is a structured training class designed to improve the physical qualities surfers rely on most—powerful pop-ups, durable shoulders, strong knees, and controlled breathing during intense moments in the water.
Each session combines ATG-style strength training with breath mechanics and CO₂ tolerance training to help you move better, recover faster, and surf longer.
Classes are held outdoors at The Space, a training deck behind the Grayton Beach Surf Club.
Each 60-minute session includes:
Breath Training
Learn breathing techniques to stay calm and recover quickly in the water.
Strength Stations
Six rotating stations targeting the muscles surfers use most.
Surf-Specific Conditioning
Short circuits that mimic the physical demands of surfing.
Recovery Breathing
Finish each class with guided breathing to reset the nervous system.
Why Breath Training Matters for Surfers
When waves hold you underwater, panic wastes oxygen.
Learning how to control your breathing improves:
recovery between waves
endurance during long sessions
confidence in heavy surf
