I've coached applicants into Stanford GSB, Harvard Business School, Wharton, Kellogg, Chicago Booth, MIT Sloan, Columbia, Haas, Tuck, Ross, Yale SOM, Darden, INSEAD and London Business School — 400+ admits, a 5.0 rating across 200 reviews, and 4x Leland Top MBA Coach.
Most applicants don't fail on effort. They fail on sequence.
This is the workbook I build with clients. You enter the schools you're applying to, and it works backwards from every deadline to tell you when each piece of the application actually needs to start — test prep, story work, resume, recommenders, four full draft-and-review cycles per essay, application forms, submission, interview prep.
What's inside
26 US programmes with 2026-27 deadlines — traditional rounds and deferred / 2+2 programmes side by side, plus published Class of 2027 stats: application fee, GMAT medians, GPA, class size, acceptance rate
A Control Panel where you set your track, your pace, and how many review cycles you want per essay
25 components back-planned from every deadline you enter, each with a live status
A fifteen-month calendar, so you can see where three schools' drafting windows collide
A dashboard with eight risk flags — stacked deadlines, essays over their word limit, recommenders not yet asked, story work not started
An Essay Tracker: every prompt, its word limit, and how many words you actually have left to write
A Recommender Tracker: who writes what, for which school, and where each letter stands
An Interview Tracker: when invites are likely to land, and what each school's format actually demands
An Application Budget: fees, tests, score reports, travel — the real number, not the sticker one
A worked example, filled out, so you can see what a finished plan looks like
The specific dates at which outside eyes change the outcome, and what to book at each one
Works in Excel, Numbers and Google Sheets. A one-page quick-start guide is included.
One honest note on the dates. They were researched in July 2026. Most are confirmed on school websites; the ones that aren't are labelled ESTIMATED inside the file, because a plan built on a date you never checked isn't a plan. Schools move deadlines — the workbook tells you which ones to verify.
