The holidays often present unique challenges for foster and adoptive families. With the addition of new children to the family, family members’ expectations for the holidays may change. This presentation will examine potential challenges that the family may face related to the holidays, ways to create stability and predictability for their permanent children, and considerations for creating an environment that encourages togetherness. 

Learning Objectives:

• Be able to identify potential challenges that birth children may face related to the holidays.

• Be able to articulate three strategies for creating stability in the home during the season.

• Be aware of two activities to invite birth children into connection and communication.
